Default 2003EDGE's TF2 Mojave II Buildup

Here she is! The new TF2 Mojave II kit. David (new2rocks) has covered the differences in the body of this kit. That is where the most visibly notable changes were made. However, there are some noteworthy changes that have been made in the drivetrain as well. We will get to those in a moment.

The idea behind this build is to put the RC4WD TF2 guide to use! I will be phasing through leaf spring setups to links and so on and so forth.

Lets get going here!

Great packaging as usual!

Here is the crown jewel...but will set that to the side as we have more important business to tend to!

I have this KNK Hardware kit for the TF2 that I will be using for this build. Nothing wrong with the factory hardware other than I wanted the stainless setup for this build.

Nice to see that the hardware and kit pieces are clearly labeled for ease of assembly.

Pretty standard build up to this point. Make sure to use threadlock in all metal to metal connections.

Here is what the inside of the transfer case looks like straight from the box. Note that there is a little grease in there...but we want to put a better coating on the gears. Don't completely fill the case but I like to use a healthy amount.

We have the same story inside the transmission. There is a light coating of grease but make sure to add some more for reliability and longevity of the gears.

One common step in building the TF2 is to shim the gears in the axles. I am happy to note that in my kit they were shimmed properly from the factory. I added some grease to the gears and closed them back up.

So, after a couple short hours, here as where we are at. Will pick up on this again tomorrow!

Curious to see what these are!

Also what kind of grease are you using?

The axles appear to be shimmed properly from the factory. I have spoken with another team member and his were shimmed properly as well. The gears in the transmission appear beefier than my past TF2 rigs as well.

I am using Lucas Red and Tacky grease.

I just built the same kit. Only the gears in the front axle needed shimmed.first kit and tf2 I've done. Easy to follow instructions. Look forward to seeing how yours turns out.

Ok, so it looks like they may have missed a few axles....will tear the front down and get a pic or 2.

Got the truck into roller form. Wheels went together very easily. Just took my time. Now to this body!

I can't wait to hear your thoughts about the 3/4 link, I have one with stock Springs an my other one has red Springs, I thought about cutting the eyes off the stock Springs an applying the under the reds but it may be to stiff, still waiting on the g2 shock hoops or I may go with the axial ones

It is a great kit! There are a couple small issues with the body but nothing that can't be worked around. As for driving it once it is built, the leaf spring suspension will take some trial and error to learn how to make it work to your advantage. But that is what makes this truck a blast to drive.

You can still get it at tower and rpp. Don't know why rc4wd isn't selling them.

I will be running a Hitec HS225MG servo for shifting duties. It is a small servo and more than enough torque for shifting duties.
