Relatively new to all this scale crawler stuff but I just had to have the TF2. My intention is to use my scx10 as a brushed all out crawler and make this into my off road trail type truck. I am going to try and leave this as scale as possible so for now I'm sticking with the leaf spring setup. I've read through the Rc4wd page about mods and plan on doing the Chino mod out of the gates. I'm still stuck on one thing though and need some advice. I bought the front shock hoops that allow either 7 or 12mm increase in potential travel but don't know what dampers to use. I read some take the internal Springs out but wondered if getting the 90-100mm dampers would give me more travel without increasing ride height. RC4WD Superlift Superide 90mm Scale Shock Absorbers (2) Or RC4WD 90mm Old Man Emu Nitrocharger Sport Shock by ARB (2) Am I on the right track here? The second question is I'm unclear where to mount the micro servo for the transmission. I saw a pic of someone making a link using all thread but now I can't seem to find it. If anybody has a pic and /or a measurement I'd appreciate it Cheers! Congrats on the purchase. These make for great trail trucks and, with a little work on the leaf setup, I think you'll end up pleasantly surprised how capable they can be on the rocks. My green TF2 is leafed and goes just about everywhere my SCX-10 does. As far as the front shocks are concerned, the shock length (within reason) won't affect ride height if you're planning to take the internal springs out. With the internal springs out, the leafs carry the entire weight of the truck (which helps them work better), and the shocks simply act as dampers. So as between an 80mm or 90mm front shock, for example, ride height will be the same and the only difference will be how much down travel you can get from the shocks. I run 90mm in front on both of my TF2s, so either one would be a good choice. If you want the option to go with a matching but longer rear shock, you should choose the Superlifts since they are available in 100mm. If you choose the Emus, you'd have to stick with 90mm in the rear (which isn't bad, BTW). My first TF2 threads has a lot of info and pix about suspension setup. I hope that helps. Enjoy! |

Thanks. I'm about half done with this thing and I have to say this has been the best out of the box build I've encountered. I've put together my share of b5 series race vehicles, tlr22's, and 1 scx10. The attention to detail and the in box organization is just awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Congrats on your purchase, I believe you'll enjoy it. You mentioned you've read the TF2 guide, make sure to read it multiple times as it contains a wealth of information that is very useful. And feel free to ask questions, there are several members here that are more than happy to help. |

I do have a question. I usually start with durability upgrades so plastic drive shafts have to go. In the kit there is a short shaft and then a longer one but I only see 1 size in the metal rc4wd driveshafts. The description doesn't say one way or another whether they are used front, back or both. There are several choices that fit. The only one to avoid is the v3. This chart should help: http://rc4wd.com/Doc/Shafts.pdf |

| Re: Pulled the trigger!! What am I doing wrong here. The servo with no weight is maybe a cm away from the pumpkin. Flipping the servo the other direction is worse. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

As pointed out, you need to flip your servo around where the wires coming out of the servo are facing towards the rear of the truck. Also power your servo up so that it centers before attaching the servo horn.

Remember for proper steering: servo arm should travel in same arc as steering arm/knuckle on the axle. | ||
