Default TF2 SWB: Anyone know where to get spare leaf springs?

Anyone know where (& what part #) to get replacement leaf springs for the Short Wheel Base TF2?

Page 23 ("Spare Parts") of instructions for the TF2 SWB refer to "Z-S1048 Soft Steel Leaf Spring for Trail Finder 2 Short WB" but I cannot find them anywhere on RC4WD's website and Google just returns an eBay listing by RC Recycler, where they were breaking up a kit.

The stock leaf springs for a normal TF2 are too long (approx. 12cm eye to eye) as the SWB TF2's leafs are approx. 10 cm.

I'm getting real worried what to do when one of my leafs breaks

I would like to know this as well... I just spent $30 on a set of leafs that I can't use.

Me too FYI since posting this thread I have contacted support@rc4wd.com: Initially they asked for a picture of the page of the manual that I had seen the part # on! Anyhoo, I sent them this (Page 23 "Spare Parts") and they replied with a bunch of links to the leaf spring sets for a normal wheelbase TF2 (approx. 12cm eye to eye):

Here are other leaf spring options:

Red Super Soft Flex Leaf Springs (4)

Super Scale Steel Leaf Spring for TF2 & Tamiya Bruiser
So I replied to stress that the SWB TF2's leaf springs are 10cm eye to eye (not 12cm). Support have replied again saying that:

Thanks for the information: When you say "from RC4wd directly", how would you do this if you cannot order the part on their website?

FYI I am getting a similar response from their support e-mail (said I could do a PayPal payment to them to order a set of leaf springs "from the warehouse"), but when I asked if I could buy 3 sets I was told I would have to wait 1-2 weeks for the warehouse to see if they have them

AFAIK the SWB TF2 was released around December 2014... Does anyone know if it has been discontinued and thus parts availability is drying up?

I've put in a request for more information in regards to this matter to those with a more direct line to RC4WD so hopefully the issue can get resolved rather quickly for those concerned.

To the best of my knowledge the SWB Kit has not been discontinued, it is more than likely an oversight or misprint on someone's part. Be patient...

Thanks for doing this Steve. Waiting with fingers crossed that I have not purchased a dead-end

Yes, you have to email rc4wd to purchase them.

My truck will be converted to links if the leafs break, $70 is way to much for a set of leaf springs for it.

Over a week (9th Feb) since RC4WD support replied to me to say:

Quote:
Our warehouse is going to through some major delays at the moment. We can still find the part and ship it to you, but it will take around 1-2 weeks for them to get going again. I truly apologize for the inconvenience.

As for Z-S1048, that item isn't showing up in our database so it has probably been discontinued for sometime now.

Let me know if you are still willing to wait for the parts.
I replied on 9th Feb to say I wanted to order 3 sets and have had no reply since then. Now I have a rig with a ticking time bomb and no way to get spares prepared in advance Hopefully RC4WD support reply soon.

So I got an e-mail from RC4WD support back on 18th February 2016:

We were able to find the leaf springs! Can you provide me with your current mailing address?
I replied the next day with my address and I have heard/received nothing since... nearly 1 month later!

All I want to do is buy some spare leaf springs, how hard can this be. Heck, if they were listed on store.rc4wd.com I would have ordered & paid long ago.

I really wish I had never purchased a SWB TF2 now

Does the short tamiya springs fit? I think it was the tundra that had the shorter ones?

I would try those. The listed length is 3.75 inches (about 95 mm) eye to eye which is close enough to spend a few bucks on them as an experiment.

Thanks for the recommendation. 95mm eye-to-eye: Okay so I'll take the risk as they are only 5mm shorter than I think the SWB TF2 needs (they may even be an exact match as my measuring may have been off a little). Off to eBay I go...

RC4WD should put these parts on their site, would make ordering spares much easier. Let us know how they workout.

Hey folks, FYI "LEAF SPRINGS TAMIYA 9808205 4 PIECES TUNDRA 1/10 1/14 KING SCANIA PETERBILT" arrived last week from "semijoes_truck_shop" on eBay: LEAF SPRINGS TAMIYA 9808205 4 PIECES TUNDRA 1/10 1/14 KING SCANIA PETERBILT | eBay

I have not installed any on my SWB TF2 yet, but they look like they will be a perfect fit I will post back in the future when I get time to swap one in to confirm fit and relative strength compared to what come in the RC4WD kit.

Only if you know what you're doing. Lol, I bought a set of the RC4wd red leafs and one of them had a coned eye on one end and thought I could hear it up a titch and bend it back square in-line with the correct angle and snap. Shattered that entire 'eye'. These are less of a risk to go at it with, since they're 1/3 the price of the ones I buggered up, though

So, I did install a set of the Tamiya tundra leafs on my tf2 swb, works great, they're a bit stiffer though which I actually liked since my rig is a bit on the heavy side.
