| Finally got a TF2
After watching build threads for a while and driving a couple of my friends trucks, I decided to get one of my own. Quick order at Tower Hobbies, and than a few days later I had this. Of course after work I couldn't help but get started on the truck. This was as far as I got that night. I know its not much, but I didn't want to rush through this. The next day I started on the body as this was gonna be my biggest time killer. This is my first hard body so I have done a ton of reading and looking into others build threads so I knew there was some areas that would need work. I decided not to use the little hooks on the bed so those holes had to go. First round of body work. This was the end result. |

Next it was time to work on the cab.... I went with the full back, not really sure why, just did. Got it glued and started on the work there. Than took care of some minor issues in the front. Than I cut the front off it. Than I took care of the body mounting holes. I wanted those filled in so I followed another thread on here. |

Next it was time for some paint. I decided to use some Ruby Red we had left over from a Ford pickup we painted a few months ago. Its a great color, but kinda sucked to shot on such a small truck. Its a tri coat paint so it took a little patience. Than on to the clear. |

After letting the paint cure for a couple days, I moved on to the detail work I wanted to do. I started off masking the truck to do a two tone on it. Did the lower portion and the bed in a truck bedliner material. Not really sure how much i like the actual product I used. Guess time will show how well it holds up. Than I went on to do the detail work. Got the grill on, light lenses in, door handles on, etc. |

Last thing I did was get the truck into a roller. I was waiting on the screws for my leaf springs from Rc4wd. My kit was missing them when I got it. And thats where it sits as of now. I am waiting on electronics and some other parts to get here so I can get it together. |

But I am glad I did all the reading. Because of it, I really didn't have any surprises during what I have done. Minus the missing hardware in my kit lol. Plus it gave me time to think about how I would like to go about my build. And certain things I wanted to do.

Your kit was missing leaf bolts too? Guess I'm not the only one. I'm waiting on mine rc4wd said they would send out a set. I love the color you picked for the truck. Looking good

Nice work so far, and I love the ruby red. Time to get this out on the trails to do some work! Any plans for an interior?

I am planning on an interior. Waiting on trans and transfer case setup to see how much room I'll have to work with. I still need to figure out interior colors and work on the dash. Now that body is pretty much done I've switched to starting to read up on interiors lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For interiors, the CCHand kit is incredible. Here's mine recently installed: But it is a bit pricey, so if that's more than you want to spend, you can use the stock dash, add a bench seat, and make a basic floor pan from a sheet of styrene very easily. i just whipped up a floor pan last night while getting my green TF2 ready for ECSC: The biggest question for you will be whether you want to go full-depth with the interior. My home-brew floor pan isn't quite full-depth but clears the shift servo sitting in the stock location. At 3/4 depth, foot room for an action figure is tight. So you can go 3/4 depth and lop off the feet or drop the floor and relocate the shift servo farther back on the chassis. Hope that helps! Last edited by new2rocks; 08-16-2016 at 11:23 PM. |

| Re: Finally got a TF2 Pretty much the same thing I'm doing now. While I wait for the bolts I've gone into working on the body. No where near as clean as yours but it'll do ;)

I'm not using the two speed so I'll have room. I placed a preorder for the SSD trans - GCM transfer case setup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Got some parts today so decided to do some work. I ended up going with rc4wd inner fenders. They are a little flimsy, but look like they will work good. I trimmed them up, and used the same bed liner stuff I used on the body. Makes it look alot better with just these. Now to just get the trans/transfer setup so I can work on some other stuff. |

Got my SSD trans GCM transfer case combo today...and obviously couldn't wait to get it on the truck. First thing is I had to drill some holes in the rear case part to mount up to the rc4wd trans mount. And than I mounted the rc4wd TF2 trans mount on the front. Than I assembled the transfer case on the trans. Only hiccup I had was my set was missing the M2 hardware for the transfer case. However, I had some laying around so no biggie. I went with a right hand drop to match the front axle a little bit better. Than I went to mount it in the truck, and ran into a slight issue. Easy fix...A little cutting and grinding in the right spots. |

After a little work and a little paint...it fits. Ground clearance is pretty good too. And than with the driveshafts on... Even fits with the battery plate in the forward position too. |

While waiting on some other parts for my TF2, I decided that I did not want to be taking the body off all the time to switch batteries. So I did some searching and found an good idea that would work. I ordered up the Rc4wd tool box. It fits the truck scale wise, and is big enough inside to allow me to run a variance of batteries. But than I needed a way to plug and unplug the battery. I didn't want wires chaffing on anything so I came up with this. I soldered up a male/female deans plug. Than made a spot to cut out the tool box and the box of the truck. I made the hole big enough on the truck box so I could remove the tool box without to much work. And than glued the connector to the tool box. And than finally, I just bolted the tool box to the truck so I knew it wouldn't go anywhere. |

While trying to figure out what I wanted for motor and esc in the truck, I knew one thing for sure. I wanted it all to fit under the seat of the truck. So I placed a quick order for the Rc4wd seat and CCHand leather seat cover. I know its just a seat and cover, but it looks better already. |
