Default My Tf2 build

I got this kit as a gift for myself on Christmas and have really enjoyed it. I did build it in January but have always wanted to do a build post.

Hobbywing esc, Holmes TrailMaster motor, ssd wheels and pitbull tires

A picture of my work area. Got the ryobi work light and shop chair from my fiancé for Christmas. Electronics are wired and 2 speed adjusted. Using a Traxxas waterproof servo for shifting duty. Steering is a wp savox.

Now time for the real work that comes with this kit, you guessed it, the body. I work at a body shop so I really enjoyed the hardbody, and this was my first hardbody.

Smoothing out the bed. I didn’t want the hooks so I filled the holes. Then I tackled the cab and rear window. It fit pretty well, but I fixed the gap after glueing.

Ready for primer. Used automotive primer. Then wet sanded nice and smooth.

Next step is painting the body. I went with a metallic green from ford. I don’t remember the paint code. Yes that is a full size paint booth....no corners cut lol

The base coat was followed by a couple of coats of ppg clear. Really looking shiny now.

Hand painted the silver on the grille before clearing it. I didn’t want to make it all black so the silver added a little detail to the front end.

Got the body assembled. I used sharpies for all the light lenses. Actually surprised me how well they turned out. I also did out line the windows in black before I cleared it.

Test fitting the body. I painted the interior tan along with the bench seat to go with the green. I cut the passenger window to look rolled down. Also sprayed bed liner in the bed.

Maiden run.

Truck runs pretty good, I love the scale handling and leaf springs.

Great looking build. Love the color and the details to fill in the lines/holes. Awesome you have two of them. Be sure to post more on your build.

Thanks, I actually had a different color picked out, but changed my mind at the last second.

The red one is a buddy of mine's. Its an SCX10 ii with the rtr TF2 body on it. He actually sold his TF2 with the blazer body installed. He's now wishing he would of kept it and sold his SCX.

Thank you, working in a paint shop has its perks sometimes.

Yeah great job on the body work, and the color combo is great!
Your work area looks just like mine haha
My wife bought me a stool with backrest too. Costco!

I can't wait to build something scale with a hardbody.
