| My version of the lwb tf2
Ok guys, was going to retro fit a yota body for my class 2 chassis with a 4 door body....but I've always wanted to build a new tf2(had couple used trucks but nothing new)....a lot of choices out there as far as kits go,but I dd a 04 dcsb taco so it only makes sense I build a lwb yota...right...

After researching colors,i thing yellow was the best choice, period correct and turned out just bad arsss.lol... The rock stompers are not the most popular choice of tire, but they look great and rc4wd has really stepped there game up in compounds...super soft tires...and a period correct choice, kind of big...but so are the beloved growlers,so..... There is a ton of mods for these chassis, and after building the truck by the book(minus the small helpers)I got a small trail run in..it performed as designed...but that's kind of the reason for the mods...lol... Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk |

Just like most everyone else, first shot is at the frontend,g2 towers and 90mm shocks.I went with a slightly larger front shock, for the fluid capacity.this is the heaviest end of the chassis. You can see the difference in the shock shaft at ride height. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk |

At this point, was time to add in the most needed upgrades, bowhouse skid, bearing carrier and rear spring hangers.all worked as designed and will be looking for more bowhouse parts later as they are released. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk |

Well with all that done it's time to try some other mods I've only read about. First is the motor drop, this is not for anyone who can't stomach choppy up a perfectly good chassis.....but I'm not that guy so......a couple hours later... Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk |

after the motor drop,i inspected the suspension travel and found my servo horn comes in contact with the pumpkin at full compression. I took the whole front axle out of the truck and found with the servo output forward and a shorter horn install was the answer.while I was in there I disassembled the axle and modified the bone cups so the axle could turn sharper and not bind up(no pics of this mod)but it worked well. With the steering worked out I moved the steering link to above the springs. After all was said and done,i have the motor dropped, over spring steering and about 45 degrees of steering... So enough of chassis mod pics....this is no shelf queen.my regular spot(dlb rc trails)is setting up for a comp next Sunday.but I have to test this truck and let the suspension settle in.only place close by is hobby park.this has a trail system for mountain bikes and hikers,oh yea scale rc trucks.....7 miles of pure tiny truck beat down... The pics really don't do this place justice.all I can think is recon g6...I covered 7.27 miles today.that's one way, complete loop.I'm going the opposite direction next time.I spent most of the time in second gear, but always watching for diff hanger rocks(a lot of those)and root clusters.one section is black diamond.just an awesome place to run scale trucks with small tires. I'm not a Toyota guy but I like this truck. You've got it set up right and the tires look great on it. I like the motor mount mod you did. Lower center of gravity is the name of the game. Love trucks on full leaf springs! Ben |

Went out to the uwharrie ttc(tiny truck challenge, was a team event so all the dlb team was in force. Started strong through the gated trails...1 of 100 gates hit and 11 of 30 bonus gates.some of the bonus gates were c2....but there was a lot of c2 there so..... But disaster struck rite after lunch...team challanges.....completed one of 5....Bryans rig went down to a muddy motor back feeding the esc......I stripped my servo gears....... To the servos defense.....it has pulled a season of duty in my c2 truggy(12 lbs)before running no telling how many miles in the tf2... And I got it used..... I installed new gears.....savox has been good servos for me. Sent from my VS835 using Tapatalk |
