| Leaf sprung reversing?
I'm fairly new to the tf2 platform. What is a leaf spring shackle reversal kit for and is it a performance mod? https://store.rc4wd.com/Reverse-Moun...WB_p_7129.html And some bench pictures of my TF2. So far my mods as small but functional Mechanically. New leaf springs. Bowhouse rc rear leaf spring holder. KNK screw kit for tf2. Junfac tf2 driveshafts metal. R4 Transmission came used with the truck. Yota2 axles from my D90. 1.55 GCM racing mini mags not shown. Tires still looking at my options Motor HH 550 45T ESC none Servo none Locktite a must have. Spectrum radio system That is it for now. What do you think of this used rig I picked up and am fixing up did I miss anything? For a trail based rig not into comps. Doesn't mean that I won't occasionally try one. Sent from my FRD-L14 using Tapatalk |

Tamiya Bruiser front spring mounts have been used for this too

Looks like a solid start man! The reverse spring mount isn't necessarily a performance mod, it simply moves the shackles from the front of the spring to the rear. This is how the 1:1 Toyota leaf springs are setup so it makes it a bit more scale. If you aren't into scale details you could spend your money on other things that would make the rig perform better. Good luck! |

A semi-elliptical leaf spring flattens out and must get longer between mounting points (hanger and shackle) in order to compress. The spring's natural arc of travel when the tire hits an obstacle (while traveling forward) is up and BACK. With the shackle at the front of the spring, the spring must compress up and FORWARD. This makes the leaf resist compression and results in a harsh ride. It's not just applicable at higher speeds either, imagine if you are attempting to climb something and your shackle makes contact first, pushing the front mounted shackle (stock tf2) rearward will force the spring to shorten, which adds arch, which is "jacking" the suspension up when it needs to be compressing. That same scenario can cause bent leafs. The only downsides to rear mounted shackles are: more brake dive, and it will introduce the negative symptoms of a front mounted shackle... if you drive in reverse most of the time. My vote is to reverse your front shackles, like a proper leaf sprung truck should be. I've used the Bruiser hangers, and they get the job done, but the RC4WD kit (which is relatively new) has the benefit of being truly bolt on, with all the odds & ends included. |

So decided to get the RC4WD bolt on kit for shackle reversal kit. For the correct look. And my 1.55 DC fun country's our on the way need to find some good foams for them. Saving on the side for a 1/10 2-6s Mamba X for the fact I don't like to run a external bec. The mamba has a pretty good internal bec system 8Amp peak and adjustable voltage which is a great solution to me. Got the R4 transmission and transfer case greased and meshed the HH 45T 550 motor. And gcmracing.ca servo hugger. Bumper mount. Waiting at saving for the bumpers. So might be a little while before this truck has a first run. And I'm planning on ditching the Yota axles and going to the Axial AR44's Sent from my FRD-L14 using Tapatalk |
