| Macaw’s First Car
Hello, Our macaw is turning 16 this year and we thought he should get his first car. The 6 low and 2 high speeds on the Traxxas TRX-6 look like good cruising speeds for a 3 pound bird. The platform also looks pretty sturdy in the videos. I am really liking the RC4WD TF2 R2R Blazer limited edition as I had a 1974 K5 in high school. Being able to take the roof off would allow me to mount a perch without damaging the appearance. The TRX-6 can do 2/3mph in 6x6 and 8/9 mph in 2x6 which is perfect. Does anyone know what the mph range is for the TF2 Blazer limited edition’s R4 single speed transmission? Would the TF2 be a good chassis to mount a pvc perch on for a 3 pound high center of gravity payload? I also saw RC4WD has a TF2 truck kit w/o body, engine, controller, receiver, battery that DOES come with an R3 2 speed transmission. Building out this way with out getting all the additional scale components will still cost the same or more as their R2R Blazer. Does anyone know the speed range the R3 two speed tranny would do with a Blazer Hard Body? Thanks for any input! |

The reason I like the RC4WD hard body blazer is because I can put a 1” blue pvc tube across the bed over the axle for him to stand on and a light bar over the cab he can hold with his beak to balance. I can do the same thing with black pvc on the Traxxas TRX-6 but it isn’t as fun or stylish to me. I think the stability will be much better than if a perch was mounted above the top like I’d have to do with the Traxxas TRX-4 Blazer. |

The TRX-4 or TRX-6 are the better choice for a young newbie. They are far more capable and much more durable than anything from RC4WD.

Are there adapters to put the RC4WD Blazer Hard Body on the TRX-4?

Looks like our bird will be getting the TRX-6 as it accomplishes everything we need, safely and without modification. The Blazer Hard Body would have been nice for sentimental reasons and neighborhood walk style points but it sounds like once you get it attached to a TRX-4 it will be top heavy and unstable, even before we add a perch and a three pound parrot.

I'm late to the party. I think you made a good choice for a first truck. The tf is a good truck but take more care to drive it than a trx4. Maybe down the road a tf will be in the future.
