Default New Tf2 lwd upgrade

Well I got my tf2 lwb rtr and I must say it’s pretty cool. I shimmed the rear diff the front was ok lubed everything, blue lock tight on everything. I replaced the front shock hoops with the Gelande 2 hoops moved the hoops back to give it a bit more steering. Removed the internal springs removed the smallest leaf and put it on top of the pack to keep the leafs from spring wrap. Swapped out the stock servo. Waiting on steel front and rear bumpers and the front reverse Shackle Mount. Was asked to do a build thread so I’ll give it a shot. More like a upgrade tread. So today I added some spacers under the servo I noticed the diff hits the servo when compressed. Apparently I received an earlier version because this has the Yota axles and not the Yota 2. This was brand new in an unopened factory sealed box.

I then relocated the steering drag link above the leafs. Just looks better in my opinion

You can see in how much clearance the servo now has From the top of the diff. I looks like the steering arm is touching but there is lots of room

Now I’m just waiting on the front reverse shackle kit and the front and rear metal bumpers. I took it out a little today and it’s a different animal for sure. Something I need to get used to. I have to remember it’s not like my other rigs

Very. Nice! That's a good idea for the link to provide clearance.

I just picked up the regular wheelbase rtr tf2 yesterday. Thinking of getting rid of the yota1 for yota 2 axles.

Nice mods so far!

I had to raise my servo on my Marlin also. Works out great with the spacers.

It's definitely a different driving experience, but they are fun to drive!

I was thinking the same thing but there isn’t really much of a difference from what I can see. Other than the behind the axle link. Wait to you break one than change them. Unless you want to super scale look. You can always put a set of Cvds in them.

OK so I got home from work today and it was like Christmas at my doorstep I received my front steel bumper rear steel bumper my front shackle conversion kit. After installing The conversion kit this thing has much more clearance in the front and at full compression perfect no interference. I had to trim the front bumper ends to fit to my liking and then added a little touch up paint to the black bumper overall super happy now I’m just waiting on my longer front shocks Name: 2B018497-ED07-4297-8DC3-F23A373D3A11.jpeg

Good luck with that!

I have yet to find a cure! The only thing that makes me feel better is to buy more R/C parts!

Looking good! The front shackle conversion should help out a bunch! It is a much needed upgrade! I ended up using the A&M Garage front bumper with the shackle reversal and it has worked out well.

Very nice. I like the rc4wd shackle reversal kit over the a&m due to not having to drill. Im in ther same process kind of like you.

I took mine apart the last couple of nights to shimm and grease the gearboxes and axles and have it in my hands as I post this. This really gets me pumped yo seeing you do these mods

The motor mount on mine was completely loose.

Nice job on your tiny truck.

Yeah I found a lot of loose nuts and bolts. Even the wheel studs for where loose. We the owners appear to be the quality control over all its a nice rig. I'll take it out to CDM this weekend and give it a run. I would suggest you blue lock tight everything. Every drive shaft bolt / pin was loose the frame bolts. It should be labeled as almost ready to run. lol. I have a steel rc4wd roll bar that I'm going to see if it will work. It is in my swb body that I had on my Element endure Trailwalker.

Make sure to tighten the 3 screws going into the spur gear. I built the kit, didn't think to tighten those, lost one screw at a time until it was just full slipping. Luckily I saw them on the ground but I didn't know where they came from until later.

Also I broke the left front axle on the 3rd run. Mine is yota2. They sent me a new part and said it can happen on wheel binds (obviously) but also if the steering endpoints are too far. I think it might have been that it fell on the tire pushing to far while it was spinning. There are also hardened ones you can get instead of stock cast with more angle but they are $$$
