New Cross Country from RC4WD

Didn't see this new teaser from RC4WD anywhere yet in RCC. Looks like it's a new hard body option. Not a long video but looks good.

Tried to watch/ pause enough to get a vibe on it and I’m at a loss.. grille is too square, looks like a dream about a Jeep that isn’t a Jeep.

I agree, the grille is pretty boxy. Another nitpick is I think the door handles are too big and too far down.

I wonder if it's a c2x chassis. The axles seem to be metal.

While they look great, Personally I am not really into hard bodies. That said it’s always nice to see new releases.

They might as well just have put a proper Jeep grill on that thing.

Probably because it’s not a licensed body. They would need to change it just a tad so they don’t get a lawsuit. Doesn’t look bad. I may have to get one. :ror: Just got the limited blazer and have a lwb.

FCA has already recently won a law suit based on the grill. The ink on the lawyers notes probably isn't dry yet so maybe RC4WD thought it would be too easy for them to come after them. :ror:

I could totally see that. Who was the law suit filed against?

It was against that Mahindra Roxor I believe. The one that looks enough like a Willy’s.

On the RC4WD, I love it, it’s great! With all of the 3D printers out there, you can easily correct what’s wrong with the body. And I think I saw a driver’s side K44 in the promo video too.

I like hard body but I think once the newness wears off everyone will start noticing the many many things wrong with this body lol. Don't get me wrong I know they are fixable. I just think personally there are other options I'd go with if I wanted scale/almost scale-ish in the Jeep world. Would like to see one of the guys over in Scale Builder's Guild get ahold of it and work some magic. Then send it to me for beta testing.

Re: New Cross Country from RC4WD

After studying the pics for this rig on the site, it looks like RC4WD may be putting out a new K44. The first pic with "Features", shows the current K44 with passenger side pumpkin and upper shock mounting points. Further down, in the 3rd pic of "Components", it shows a new version with the driver side pumpkin and lower shock mounts.

I would love to see the first version with the lower mounts. It would allow for a little longer shock and more travel, and would be more accurate for an older Jeep style.

It’s no secret that I’m not a big RC4WD fan. This is another release that looks like China was in charge of the design and it’s 3/4 of the way finished.

Side view looks like it skipped leg day. The body is too high and/or the tires are too small.

Axial has the Jeep market covered. RC4WD could have at least had it licensed. I mean they license every other tiny part in their lineup. I know it’s a hard body, which some people demand, but the Lexan version from Axial looks far better. Maybe there’s a Jeep grille under that black blob of plastic up front.

As for the chassis, could they put the motor any higher?

Then there’s the fact that the servo is oddly angled for seemingly no good reason. I’m betting steering is less than stellar.

Re: New Cross Country from RC4WD

I’m surprised it uses a normal sized servo for the hi/low gear. I think it should definitely be on a micro especially because how it hangs off the edge of the chassis plate

Re: New Cross Country from RC4WD

My first thought, sweet a new rig to build once the kit is released. Second thought, wonder if the 85’ 4Runner would work with it. 11.9” is pretty close to the 11.3” TF2. Third thought, wish Jeep bodies didn’t sell so good so we could see less of them.
