Default R3 2sp vs. R3 single sp. pro’s and cons

Trying to decide if I want to replace the 2sp in my TF2 with the single speed transmission. Compared to my Gelande 2 the TF2 spur gear sure travels a lot before engaging. A few things to note.
I never use 2nd gear so it means nothing to me. I’m more about the low slow control.
Also if relevant, will soon be transferring all parts to a LWB chassis I have on order in prep for the 87’ Toyota body
Thanks.

I'm going to order a tf2 kit soon and it sounds like the 2speed has a lot of slop/free play. If your about slow speed control, the single speed will be much better. You ought to also fair a bit of $ for the 2 speed.

Cool man thanks. Just got it on order. Anyone interested in a RC4WD R3 2sp transmission?

Yes there is a lot of slop in the 2 speed, mine is locked in the lower gear and just going from forward to reverse the spur moves almost a quarter turn to get the slop out. A single speed is in my future

I have a 2sp kit coming because i wanted to gear it way down so the high gear was an over all crawl and trail gear. Then low gear would be like a granny gear for that super slow crawl. Disappointing to hear the 2sp trans has so much slop even when locked into a gear. Whats the play coming from? But be a way to take up that backlash.
