Bobbed bed tips?

Getting ready to finish my TF2 LWB 4 door and want to bob the end of the bed. Seems pretty straight forward. Any tips?

Thanks!

Here's how i do mine in a few pics.

Started by marking the cut with masking tape then screwing the bed to a piece of wood and clamping it in the vice. I then us a hacksaw with a fine (32tpi) blade and carefully go across the bed to get a even cut. This then makes the re-joining cleaner.

Here's the result after about 15 minutes of slow cutting:

I then used a bottle on MEKK to rejoin the bed using the piece i cut out. This give a bond the same strength as the original plastic. However, it's a slow process as I let each joint dry over night to get to full strength.

I'm sure there are other methods but that's how I do mine. Hope this helps you a little.

I know it's going to take the fun and creativity out of the mix, but the Marlin bed is already bobbed and it's priced fairly reasonable. Save a bunch of time.

That bed looks longer in front of the wheel opening compared to my LWB 4 door. Is that right? Your right, that is a good price! 8)

I considered the Marlin bed myself, until I realized the same. The wheelbase doesn't match up with the LWB chassis.

I just bought the Toyota Xtra Cab, just to find out that it is for the LWB. I only have the normal Trailfinder 2.
Will the Marlin bed fit the Xtra Cab and fit my wheelbase at 287mm?

Sorry but no it won't. The only way to get the body to fit is convert your truck to LWB. I think all that is needed are LWB rails and a longer driveshaft but I have never do the swap personally so I may be mistaken. on what is required.

Or you could slice and dice the cab and bed to make it fit....bed will prolly be very short.

If you're using MEK, try Plastruct Plastic Weld. Shit's the bomb.

Acetone works great and easy to mix slurry of the same plastic as filler/bonder.
