| Got my first TF2…not sure if I’ll drive it.
I did not know the front bumper connects to the body, not the frame. That makes me super nervous to drive it. Also, the rtr servo has a mind of its own. Not sure if it’s esc or servo problem yet. Finally, I have to learn how to tune the leafs, currently they’re stiff as rocks and could probably hold 20lbs without moving. Lol I’m extremely impressed with the body however, the attention to detail is outrageous. Maybe buy a different body to try driving with first? |

That looks gorgeous! Take one of the smaller leafs out, that'll soften up your "stiffy". Do the "Chino mod" to gain articulation. Replace crappy electronics, you don't want a runnaway.

Yep, take the smallest leaf out, take the totally unnecessary springs out the shocks, and the o-ring mod. The leafs will soften up over a few good bouncy runs. I did all this to my Marlin and was more than happy with the flex. I also made my own traction(or anti-wrap) bars.

Thanks guys, I’ve completed the chino mod, removed smaller leaf and removed the springs from the shocks. I also added a few drops of 10wt to help them move a bit more freely. Next stop is the o-rings, do they really help that much?

O-rigns help a lot but keeping in mind the scale factor (its only going to give you a couple mm) but def worth it . The front axle is a bit stiffer than the rear even with all the mods due to the vertical shock position. keep in mind the axel wrap if you soften the rear too much, many will assure you they have broken the leaf springs due to this (I have yet to add anti-wrap bar to mine). if your shocks leak, mount them upside down to keep most of the fluid inside. all in all the TF2 is one of my favorite rigs to wheel as it challenges you more to take careful lines and and struggle rather than just walk over the obstacles.

To help a little with the axle wrap I take the smallest leaf and cut off the rear portion of the spring right behind the two holes to bolt it to the axle. This takes away some flex but helps prevent the leafs from bending but if you're a "hammer down" type driver they will eventually bend. also looks like you're just on the main leaf, I would put the second longest back. |

Nice, this model has gone on my list for this winters build. Here is a vid with some good tips on leaf springs, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4rtpjY4fAw&t=8s Drive it, once you get the first couple scratches it won't hurt so bad, lol. |

My Cross Country had the same servo jittery issues. Changed servos all out…. Realized it was the tx. Loose connection? If I wiggle the tx a little the servo would move sporadically. Nothing more fun than the scale truck…, #use it or loose it;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by lkvisser; 10-12-2021 at 07:08 PM. |

nice, Ill have to do these mods to mine, keeping this one stock, minus lights and metal sliders, not that it needs the weight. One project at a time though.
