Default TF2 front bumper issue

Frustrated…

I originally ordered the Tough Armor hidden winch mount bumper, and that had some issues. I had to grind away the back side of the grill in order for the grill to sit right between the winch and the bumper. It still did not fit right.

So, I Ordered a second bumper from RC4WD. It fits, but not like in the picture on RC4WDs website. A huge gap between the bottom of the grill area and the top bar sits to low to the hood. This is so frustrating. Does anyone know if you can get an aftermarket mount to raise the bumper using the stock frame mount? This bumper uses the The RC4WD universal mount, not the post mount system. The holes also do not line up with the three bumper mounts that come with the TF2 kit.

I also started modifying the stock bumper mount. In order to get the right height, the mount has to sit on top of the frame.

Sorry for the rant, but two different items back to back are not fitting the way they are described.

I'm not yet fully versed on the TF2, But I see bumper fitment issues here and there throughout the threads.

Another user posted a couple pics of a couple pieces of either brass or aluminum brackets they made to raise the bumper IIRC.

If I can find the thread again I'll post a link.

This is part of the reason why I did an "Organic" bumper; The bumper mine came with restricted the front shackles from articulating all the way, And I saw alot of people brazing their own bumpers because of fitment issues with the ones currently made.

Thanks! I ordered the A&M shackle reversal kit so I shouldn’t have issues with the brackets hitting. I am going to get some aluminum plate and modify the stock bumper mount.

This post encouraged me to register.

I just installed the tough armor hidden winch bumper and had to do a bit of cutting of the body plus find a way to get the lower lights back; I also had to bend the ends of the bumper to make a night tight fit.

For that bumper the lower valance where your lights are have to be removed. My problem on that bumper was the plastic was too thick behind the grill. Had to sand it a lot thinner to fit right between the winch and the bumper bar. I feel your paying though.

I just modified the bumper mount on the ARB bumper. Finally sitting where it should be.

I bought the A&M Garage front bumper for my Marlin and the fitment is spot on.

Just a thought for you in the future if you want a bumper that gives a better approach angle.

I'm thinking the Tough Armor hidden winch bumper may be designed to fit the Marlin with it's cut-off lower section to the front bumper. Mine bolted right up to my Marlin and lined up perfectly:

Per the RC4WD website for this part:

"Notes: Fits RC4WD Marlin Crawler Trail Finder 2 RTR w/Mojave II Crawler Body Set.

The body and grill will require some trimming when installing this bumper on TF2 chassis with RC4WD Mojave II Body Set."

Thanks for the replies folks. Ended up using an aluminum plate to work with the stock RC4WD fixed bumper mount. I got it where it needs to be.

I installed a bunch of a&m garage parts on my marlin. The shackle reversing bumper, rear bumper, belly plate and the sliders. The only thing I had to do was bend the sliders down a little to take the body on and off because I’m just using grub screws. All the parts fit perfectly and work better than perfect. If your not running a&m you should be.
