I’ve been wanting a leaf spring rig for some time now, and with twade984 grabbing one, it twisted my arm enough to pull the trigger. Really wanted a blazer, but I wasn’t about to drop the money they want for the special edition one. So here we are! I had some store credit at Amain, and they were offering $25 off so I grabbed the TF2 kit with Mojave ii body. Going to build it basically stock, with the exception of some TF3 take off wheels n tires I scored. I’ve got an Amazon 35kg servo en route for steering duties and a low profile servo for shifting the trans. Going to start off with a hobbywing 1080 esc and Holmes crawlmaster sport 10t 550 because it’s in the drawer. I got the chassis somewhat assembled last night, with some marine grease in the transfer case. Tonight I’ll be opening up the transmission and axles to give them some marine grease as well. Hopefully the weather holds and I can do some painting next week. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It’s never too late to join the TF2 party! Everyone should have at least one! ![]() Glad to see it’s a kit and not an RTR. You’ll get to make sure all the screws are tight with thread lock applied. My Marlin RTR had loose screws and no sign of thread lock. Leaf spring trucks are fun to drive and take the scale driving to the next level. Lovin’ my Marlin now that my leafs are broken in. Following along to see more. ![]() Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I can’t wait to see your spin on this truck. When I had my Marlin I loved it, wish I never sold it! I never even got the chance to put any aftermarket electronics in it lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Curious to know what spur/ pinion you'll be going with since I'm currently trying to pick the route I wanna go with my Marlin Crawler. I'm thinking HH Crawlmaster 550 15t with stock 14/ 64. Congrats on the new rig. I look fwd to seeing it all come together. |

Look up videos on YouTube on how to shim the axels and then shim the axels. It will save you grief later. I've had my TF2 for 8 or 9 years and I'm very happy with it. ![]() Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

Nice pick ... My TF2 definitely gets driven the most ... has been very fun and honestly rewarding to build it ... drive it ... upgrade it. You wont be a fan at the beginning if you compare to newer trucks capabilities but once those leaves break in and you start to thinker with it, will be cherry.

Hey thanks guys! So far it’s been a fun build. Pretty straight forward, I decided to build this thing bone stock before doing any real mods. HPD, I’ll let you know what I end up with for gearing. I’ll start with what is supplied and go from there. Didn’t get much done Thursday, decided to be Irish for the night. But last night I got the axles mounted under the chassis, along with the transmission and driveshafts. Assembled the wheels and tires so I’ve got a roller, and with any luck my steering servo will show today so I can have a driving chassis. I agree, I think everyone needs one of these in their life haha ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out! I didn't get to build mine up from kit form, as I bought it used, so it's cool to watch everyone assemble theirs. I love the building part of the hobby I think the most, But the price was right on a used one. I've got some tips and tricks in my thread, And a solution for the steering knuckle bushing slop if its as bad as the Yota 1 axles. Keep on tiny trucking! |

Tf are awesome. Love mine. It put alot into mine and love the way it drives compared to a trx4 or scx. It's a totally different fun of driving. Your coming along pretty good. It took me forever to build mine, but I have very little time to have fun.

Thanks guys, I haven’t forgot about this thing. The PnW weather hasn’t been that great to me for paint. I’m traveling to Southern California for a week so I’ll be bringing it with to get the body painted I hope. But the chassis is basically complete and I drove it around the apartment a week or so ago. Can’t wait to get it on some rocks! ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

| ![]() Unfortunately not, we’re having a very cold and wet spring. I don’t want to rush the paint job so that’s where I stand. Last year at this time I’d been able to do quite a bit of driving. But just about every weekend with the exception of when I was on vacation in SoCal has been rainy. I’ll post an update when I get the body done and get to drive this thing. I’m itching too. About damn time we got some decent weather up here in the PNW. Laid some paint today, not super stoked on the outcome of the light gunmetal.. but maybe after I try sanding through it to some of the other colors I laid down first it will look better. If not I’ll shoot it with the dull red and call it a day haha ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hey, looks great! Curious to see what she'll look like after some sanding. I hear ya on the weather. I went from cold and rainy to hot and humid in an instant here in Ohio. Now I have to wait for some cooler drier days to paint. ![]() |

I chickened out on the weathering process for now… I’ve bought the full interior but I need to detail that up also. So I threw it together with just the dash for now because I was dying to get the new bumpers mounted and see it completed. Typical PNW, expecting rain again this weekend so idk when I’ll be able to run it, but gives me some time to get the interior together ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Well these showed up today…. So I wasted no time swapping them out. Super stoked with the new look. Also made some “covers” for the rear body post. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks man, I wasn’t able to get out and run this weekend. Got hit with 100 degree weather this weekend, but next weekend looks promising! Can’t wait to run this thing ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk | |
