Good idea, I dont know how many people have em, but I used to and I shattered all the points where they mount to the chassis - the plastic was horrible and brittle. Whatever theyre made of they will be a hell of an improvement

Might be a good hopup for my Twin Det stick crawler , UK I replaced shocks with a threaded bar to anchor wishbones in positions, made up brackets and a drilled some aluminium U channel (very quickly, will redo again) and I had the basis of a stick crawler. For steering behind the axle (as stock on a Twin Det) was near enough impossible so I mounted a Tower Pro servo on shock tower and made links, it works well and doesnt seem to catch anywhere. Control wise I use 2 esc's which are controlled via different channels of reciever, then using my computerised transmitter (Futaba 3vc) I mix channel 2 and 3 together giving me dual control of both motors... BUT.. if i use dual rate switch on side of transmitter which I changed to be the 3rd channel switch I can alter the percentage control of rear motor for a 'dig' type set up - Have found in testing that The truck will turn on its own axis. It needs gearing down but smallest pinion it will take is a 18tooth, think i need an adjustable motor mount. Took it to a little unused quarry somewhere in North Wales (cant be more precise I was lost, was just following a couple of mates).. It wasnt suited to either 2.2 I took, but was fine for the clod and gmade. So I resorted to pratting about in a puddle.

I once 4-linked a wild dagger back when I was a total noob It is a good beefy transmission, apart from the casings. They are pretty large gearboxes though. Hope they sell

The casings are very weak (oh and the crawler was only done as I was bored and had spare transmissions as the mountings had mostly all snapped off under my normal abuse of cars. have a decent tlt based crawler for normal use)

I spose there may be a decent sized market for bashers/racers? one would hope so.. Isnt there also a single motor tamiya that uses that gearbox?

A couple, theres the mighty bull which is essentially the same chassis as twin det just has one gearbox at rear, also the king blackfoot and others similar. Also the Wild Willy 2 uses same transmission.

They are nice looking, but shoot, the whole trans with motor is only $20 bucks at Tower. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGHK3&P=Z

| yea. but doesn't the blackfoot extreme also use that gearbox? and then there are god knows how many renditions to the twin detinator. as for the cost thing, the whole shebang might just be $20 at tower, but this would be the perfect finishing touch for that Cold Fusion Wild Dagger on scale4x4.
