How about less screws? Ya shouldn't need to many screws to hold the bead.

YES, YES, YES!!!

x2 on less bolts though... I think 8-10 per side should work fine.

People, the whole point of these custom beadlock wheels is to look scale! Have you ever seen a 1:1 beadlock of this style (not hummer style) with 8 bolts? No. The extra bolts make it look 10x better and not just any other gay rc wheel. I'm really digging the design, maybe include a gunmetal color anodized ring?

Ok - if they were to make it scale then, it would only have 15-18 bolts... total(on one side), not 24. The Hutchinson Rock Monster's have bolts on one side that hold the whole thing together. But 24 bolts on a wheel that small is a little exessive though, unless they are really small bolts.

But I have to give RC4WD credit and props for stepping up and making the wheels we want. Thank you!

I wouldn't go as far to call every other rc wheel "gay". I think if they really wanted these to be scale, they should AT LEAST make the screws smaller. Have you ever seen a 1:1 beadlock with 2 inch wide bolts? No.

Of all the RC4WD bead locks I have and have had, I like silver on silver the best. It makes it very easy to swap from vehicle to vehicle or change bodies and not look funny.

They look great, I think black rings would be sweet, or even polished

If the wheels and rings were both a grey or silver, that would be the best.

Maybe some thin rings? I never liked how fat rings bulge out from the sidewall.

I think smaller hardware would look better but then you will run into issues with stripped threads or broken fasteners. M3 hardware definately has the durability to be repeatedly installed/removed but the smaller stuff in my opinion doesn't. I have run into a few issues with M2.5 and definately many more issues with M2 hardware failing due to repeated useage of the same hardware. An M2 tap is quite hard to come by and can be up to four times more costly than an M3 tap (depending on where you get it). Not to mention the rediculous cost of a set of M2 or M2.5 Helicoils if you ever strip the threads in the wheel. Ever try to get out an M2 fastener that you broke the head off of? There are sacrifices for durability over appearance and I personally am happy with the M3 hardware.

However, if you decide to go with smaller hardware, I'd still be interested as I have access to all the tools related to repairing broken or stripped M2 and M2.5 issues.

These look pretty nice but is there any way to "soften up the edges" on the spokes? To me most beadlocks look kinda raw and unfinished (not just these but other manufacturers as well). Maybe a small chamfer to the spoke edges?

Edit: I have a set of these and really like the finish detail on the edges of the holes between the spokes.

Could there be dummy screws on everyother one to eliminate having so many screws??? It would keep the look but not the mounting time...

Some of you scale guys are a little out to lunch. From my experiences with beadlocks, putting the things together almost gives a guy a headache from staring at the little bolts haha. If the bolts were any smaller, it would not be practical.

RC4WD uses some soft aluminum, and I noticed on my oldest set of wheels from them that the rings are warped now. I would not want to see them cutting thinner rings with the grade of aluminum they use, which I am sure speeds up their machine time and keeps the costs down

The 1.9 wheels use m2.5 hardware on the rings, which is nice as it still uses a 1.5mm hex driver.

As for scale, real beadlocks run a lot more bolts... And most beadlocks that I have seen on the trail are steel beadlocks with do it your self weld on rings. They tend to run 32+ bolts per side.

I am happy to see you guys making wheels without those center caps again, for me they just are not very practical and look to big to be scale. Plus they keep the price of the wheels down

i woiuld like to see gunmetal wheel and silver ring. gunmetal has never been done before, black hides all the fancy machine work. gunmetal is dark enough to still be bad ass and anti bling, but still shows off the good looking wheels.

gunmetal wheels with raw silver rings would be sinister!

Why is the first thing people usually complain about with scale sized beadlocks is the excessive amount of screws? If the wheels were plastic it would be more of a concern because the threads are always digging in when you're loosening or tightening them. On an aluminum wheel, the screws go in way easier and only need to be torqued a bit at the end to tighten them up...they don't drag threads going in like the plastic would. I have a set of their Rampage 2.2's with the same amount of screws, and it only takes me like 2 minutes max to put one tire/wheel together.

I say leave the number of screws alone. Also, I think the rings would look better if the outers were rounded like the one's on the Rampage versions.

So msd beadlocks are gay? i've never had one lose a bead and the msd's have 8 screws per side versus 12 for the rc4wd. if they start making a working scale airgun that will remove screws then i say bring on more screws for the sake of scaleness; but until than any more than an 8 is a pain in my hand

I think this particular wheel would look best silver on silver.

Will the 1.9 true scale beadlock rings fit on these? I still have a full set of the black ones...
