Default The Chubby Crawler 2.2 Chassis (Coming Soon)

The Chubby 2.2 Crawling Comp Chassis

The Chubby (also known as the V Chassis) is a joint development between Carbonuts, scubadaveojr and roborg5000. Creating one of the most advanced 2.2 competition crawler chassis ever built, incorporating advanced V shaped alloy chassis plate and curved delrin skid plate.

Josh, Dave and I have been working on this project for a few months now and hope this chassis brings great success when added to the Bully axles and to those who choose to run it on their other MOA axles. This is a prototype and some small changes may occur once testing has started and completed.

The name is ummm...

The design looks promising! I notice the cross braces have thickness added to the area around the holes. It's not neccessary and could be removed to reduce costs...

Carbonuts...you need to find a way to pay Badger to forever remove that picture!

I am pretty sure I would never want to tell anyone I was running a "Chuuby" I would reach back in the hat and pick a new name

I am a fan of the concept though, been running a narrow skid for more than a year now.

the entire center section needs to be open to remove mass and lower CG. the entire slot and name area. just open sides. it will be a tank otherwise, id make the top braces from delrin as well, again to remove mass and lower CG.

With the lower portion of the chassis at 30mm will the lower links clear the gear box if inboarded and using the Bully's? I know with a 50mm wide skid its close.

No issue. I am running a Diablo chassis on mine with a custom skid. Total width is 57mm. Where the links mount its 24.5mm.;)

So how much clearance is there between the link and the gear housing. From what I can see in the picture the link is hitting the case. Also how far are the links apart at the skid. I don't see the clear cover on the gear housing does it hit?

I don't run the cover. A little tape works great.

There is only a small amount of clearance. The links don't hit the case. It may look like it in that photo, but there is probably 5-7mm clearance.

I do run the dust cover and it clears but, Spacers for the links/mounts on the axles will solve clearance issues if any.
