Default Stamped steel 1.9 wheel (Project code name Hardcore Wheels)

About half of a year ago, Fracture and 500swmag simultaneously contacted us about the idea creating the first stamped steel wheel.

In Fracture email, he mention various features of this dream wheel and his last sentence was "Tell me if you think you are up for the challenge."

Months has gone by, today at 5:50AM PST California Time, we finally got the first prototype made.

Below is another design that we are also working on, both wheel mounting systems ( 6 bolt + hubcap) is identical.

The goal is to create a pretty near replica of a fj40 stamped wheel, It is in 2 parts so that 4 slots can be added around the diameter for realism.

Fracture also designed a disk brake and hub system that looks and works pretty much like the real thing.

The disk brake has a slot for a drive pin, it slips in place and is held on by a nut in the form of a aisin locker (front) or a 8 bolt full floater (rear).

The wheel then bolts onto 6 m2 studs.

What isnt shown is 4/8 grub screws which will hold the outer rim part onto the center. Simple and strong:

that is just bad ass! no doubt the first version will sell alot more though. but whats the point of the brake disc, if you cant see threw the back half of the wheel? it would be great if there were holes in the rear part that matched the front part so you could see threw the wheel for realism. (rear holes probly need to be 20% bigger so you can still see threw at side angles.

Damn those look great guys. I'll just add them to my long list or RC4WD stuff I need to buy. So what kind of weight are we looking at for each wheel?

Ahhhh, did you just say that

That's just wrong....

At least for the FJ's...those should only be white, gray, or black

that first wheel looks like a copy of CAC's ringless beadlock design.

I started the Centerlock design in June of 2008, lost interest and started up again a few months later. RC4WD posted up the first pics in October of 2008. To be honest I havent seen CAC's ringless design, my inspiration was an old Kyosho Double Dare that I have, that and the real beadlock designs from the early military trucks.
