I got mine Thursday, spent Saturday getting them ready and mounted
them on my truck for some Sunday snow crawling. Turns out they don't run in the snow for long.
Witch sucks being the main reason I got them, living in MI. The snow builds up and the tracks start slipping.
I had to take them off after a couple of minutes of running and switch back to my tires at are GTG.
I like them, but the tracks keep slipping after 2 to 3 minutes running in snow.

Ya,

I already stated that they begin to slip in the snow. Shimming the tracks will fix this, however they dont have a shimming system yet. My idea was to simply put like a gorilla tape around the outside of the track wheels to make the tread tighter, or find bigger wheels.

Sorry for the rant. I like the shim idea.I do think that would help.
Ill see what I can come up with to tighten up the tracks.
It was cool see my rig kicking butt through the snow.

A ya look back to post #71 i allso stated we need shim kits. when i orderd my traxx. i got the mount kits from RC4WD a month or so before the traxx were out. than i orderd the traxx (3 sets) 4 to run and 2 for parts. i got them from RPP love them mofo's hope the back's doing good Cory.
so i got 2 extra shims but need like 2 more per traxx for them to run rite in the snow. a pack of say 8 or 12 would be mint...hint hint RC4WD. thankyou. Drail

i hear ya seemed like forever to get mine. RPP has them in stock rite now.
as for traction. on the fluffy snow not bad the packed stuff...bout the same thay hook up but could ues some more aggressive track.
on the dry stuff..crawl and climb like crazy. i run a 7t puller on 3cell and thay don't jump track to much only when i flog it.. Drail

My first run with RC4WD Predator Tracks. Started out great then ran into problems with the drive wheeles packing up with snow causing the track to slip.

I just ran the truck again, this time I let the truck sit outside for a few minutes to let the aluminum get cold before I ran it, this kept the snow from sticking in the grooves and seemed to solve most of the slipping. The snow was also dryer, wet or sticky snow still might be a problem, but I think the shims will take care of any other slipping.

Dont think your rig is 100% stuck proof in the snow with these installed, I did manage to sink it in some deep snow a few times. But for my second run I was impressed overal and its a lot of fun in the snow.

Can't wait to get some more runs in, I will keep updating as I use them. Hope this helps others who may be looking at getting a set.

I found that real deep snow is the issue. But if you think about it, running in 6" of snow would be like running in 60" in a 1:1...
