I have a question...

How do you activate the servo to switch from hi/low?
I know I would need a new radio but how do you get it all to work together?

Servo, linkage and a switch on your radio. The trans comes with all the linkage.
You can also use a mini servo.

Thank you for the pics! Looks like an easy install.

Does the spur stay exposed like that?

What radio would you rrecommend?

Ordered one which should be here Thursday.

Question for you guys though. I'm geared perfectly for a Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Expert 13t. Will this motor work or should I pickup a higher turn motor? Don't want to burn up this motor.

Trans came in today and will be installing a spare Solar D772 for the time being, but am trying to figure which micro servo i'll need.

Would the HS-53 budget feather micro servo be enough? I've got a GT3C so i'll have endpoints dialed in. i can get a $4 servo but i rather spend a teeny bit more and get the hitec name and reputation

Says 16oz at 4.8volts if left through the RX, or 20oz at 6volts if i run it through the BEC.

Thanks in advance!!

Default AX2 2 Speed Transmission for Axial Wraith & SCX10/Honcho

The issue is it's actually a wraith length trans, so using scx or ax shafts will likely result in one being too long if your running stock wheelbase. It's really as simple as cutting it down and your good to go.

And as far as servo requirements I have run mine for probably. 2 yrs now with a furans s3001 plastic geared servo with no issue , so a weak servo will get the job done.

Question:
I have a Novak Timbuk2 13.5t in my Jk and the lack of drag brakes is a deal killer. Hating that system since my favorite place to crawl has very steep terrain. Was thinking of swapping that system with my Wraith along with a AX2 trans. My thinking is that the lower gear will act as a drag brake if geared properly? And I would l like the cool factor and more speed on the Wraith. Just got into crawling, Dang, this is addicting$$$

Your thinking would be fairly correct. In low gear it holds on a hill pretty good. Like you said if the gearing is right.

Update: the HS-53 works perfectly for shifting (as long as the trucks moving)

And i bought T-maxx shafts i cut down to the length needed fairly easy

LOVE this trans with the 13.5T Redline on 3s

Are you running it with a brushless system, from what I understand brush system inherently have better drag vs brushless. Thanks for the reply

I run a 35t brushed motor on a sidewinder. With the stock trans the drag brake didn't hold very well. But it holds now.

I tend to run cheep motors too.

Timbuk definitely has drag brake. Should be more then enough to hold this in either gear

It has hill brakes yes. Either on - do a front flip or off - uncontroled run away. Zero drag brakes to mantian a controlled steep decent. No in between.

If you decrease the amount if drag brake your using, it would in theory not lock up, and would roll with resistance. My buddy runs the same setup in a wraith with this trans and 13.5 motor. Really works great for everything, but he has a slightly humming roll on really steep hills

i've got my drag brake set semi-low. It will not hold on a hill without some throttle input as i didnt like doing an end0 every time i let off the throttle when not on a hill

I''ve played with different settings and its on or off. Contacted Novak and they where no help. I have read on this forum it's a common issue with Novak. My buddy has one and can't get drag brakes either. Aside from zero drag brakes it works good, I like the rock boost. I've already ruined a body from cartwheeling from it slamming the brakes, maybe just my unit but, I don't think I'm alone.

Good to know that the trans helps, that is why I'm considering the trans. Save my investment. Thanks
