the transmission won't help add drag brake. If the Novak only has on/off, that's the thing that'll need replaced/upgraded. I'm running Castle products in my rigs so i can adjust it via the laptop with a CastleLink |

Yup. You'll have to play with the gearing to get what you want, but that's how it works for me. I have mine geared pretty low so I have to give a little throttle for down hill in low. | |

Does anybody know why they list the HD shaft as an replacement part and not and option part anymore? I assume maybe they install them now but if this is the HD shaft in these then it sucks and they need a better shaft yet again. Please stop givin' us cheap crap! Had to buy another trany cause no parts were in stock at the time. Now I busted 2 of these and have only run about 8 2cell packs, NOT impressed. |

How will these hold up to a 540 sized outrunner?

Came up with the same idea about month ago. Posted it up on "rckcrwlr's Wraith 2 Banger" thread in the vendors section under rc4wd. Were you able to get it to work with the micro servo under the servo mount. I can't get it to shift properly. What did you use in the picture? |

I have a question about this. Do the spur and 1st gear ration stack? What I want to know is the final gear ratio of 1st gear 5.05:1 with the provided spur and pinion or is it higher like 9:1? I am considering getting one of these for my brushless wraith and I would like to have a granny gear to slow ultra slowly. I know I could go with a smaller spur but with a 5mm motor shaft the smallest pinion I can go is 11. How would I figure out the final gear ratio if I change the pinion/spur? |

The stock spur/pinion come out to be 4:1 and the 1st gear is 5.05:1 so your looking at about 20:1 with the stock combo.

I have a Holmes trailmaster bl pro 540 and it just doesn't creep along like I would like it to. It's geared at about 5:1 but 20:1 would probably do exactly what I want.

So I just received the spur gear cover for my AX2. If fits great, if you're still using the slipper that came with the trans. If you're like me and running a Robinson Racing slipper it's a no go. The motor plate is completely different. The cross pin is now recessed into the motor plate. Just figured I'd pass that on for anyone else that might be considering it.

I though about buying this tranny. But after reading this I'm glad I went with the Traxxas Summit Tranny. I use 4s and the Wheel base of the Losi LST2 is 17.5'' so that I can use a Yeti XL body. I have built other with this body and they do very well over both the Traxxas Summit and the Axial Yeti XL. The only tranny upgrade is the LEM Dog Carrier that I'm still waiting for. If your doing a custom build I would look into doing the same. YES IT'S BIG! Weight with a pair of SMC 9400mAH Lipos is 19 lbs. Last edited by twissted; 06-28-2015 at 08:55 PM. |

So I am looking at going with the RC4WD AX2 2sp tranny with a 16/48 (4:1 ratio) pinion spur combo. Being powered by a Tekin 40T hand wound brushed motor and a Tekin FX-R running from a 3s battery. I am really not interested in brushless at this time. Any suggestion or insight as to what I am getting into as compared to my current mostly stock SCX-10 setup (axial 27T/AE-2/2S) in my poison spyder wraith? Can anyone confirm that second gear with a 40T and 3s will be plenty of power to move the wraith? My buddy has a axial 55T running behind a 3s battery and AE-2, but it seems to lag abit when taking off in second gear. It just doesn't seem to perform like what I see in youtube videos. And I can not very if all youtube videos are running brushless which due to my terrain I am concerned about given the wet nature of Washington State. |
