Click the image to open in full size.

Above is our the final prototype version. We will start production after we go through a few more testing.

The gear ratio is 4.3:1. This custom housing can be expanded all the way to 200:1 gear ratio if needed. Any other other gear ratio will be made base on request.

A picture with it mounted a 540 motor will be posted tomorrow.

Now we have gained a lots of experience in making micro size gears, we will start designing a 3 or 4 speed full metal tranmission. A prototype will be made end of next month.

The retail price will be 39.99 per unit. You will get the Ultra Compact GRU and a custom pinion gear for the motor.

Specs:

Overall diameter: 47mm
Height: 18mm
Output shaft diameter: 3mm (with a flat surface for mouting standard RC pinion gears)
Total gears: 4

I would like to test this. I have a scale 2.2 build coming up here soon and i dont have room for a pede or similar tranny if this could be stacked to get a ratio so that it could run drirect drive it would be perfect

We already have a tester person selected a few days ago.

Making those gears will take a few weeks, we expect to ship 2nd week of next month.

Ok, now if I'm not mistaken you can bolt up motor right to that, then that will bolt to where the motor would have bolted into the tranny? If so, I will pick one up as soon as they are available. My tlt may need some more grunt.

Here is the final specs
  • Gear reduction ratio: 2.9:1
  • Overall diameter: 46mm
  • Height: 18mm
  • Output shaft diameter: 3.17mm (with a flat surface for mouting standard RC pinion gears)
  • Total metal gears: 5
  • Total Parts: 10
We might release other gear ratio down the road, but the GRU unit will be taller. This is the most compact one that we can do for now.

We expect to ship mid October. The prototype will be shipped to the tester on Monday.
