Default 3 Speed Transmission?

Click the image to open in full size.

We have been working on this for a while now, we expect to have a prototype done by early November. And start shipping mid or late November.

The final product will be much different than the CAD picture above.

It will be similar in size as the bruiser transmission. The mounting method will be different. This transmission will offer 2WD fast, 4WD slow and 4WD really slow mode. Once this get done, we will make a 6 speed version as well, using the same alum housing.

Beside this, we are working on 2 other single transmission, small enough to fit the TLT-1 size truck. Those should be ready to ship late October or early November.

Our goal is to sell it at $200-300 range. But it is still too far to get a good estimate. A couple of molds has to be made, those will have a huge initial investment cost. Keep in your mind, this will be a full alum/stainless steel transmission.

We dont know yet if we need a tester right now, but I will post more info once it is ready for preview.

Any plans for a very compact tranny with a single output, and a matching tranfer case? Thats what I will need for my scale project this winter.... But I will probably have to build the driveline my self for this one.

can't wait to see this thing become a reality! we need a stronger more reliable alternative to the bruiuser/hilux trans. will it be any lighter than the bruiser/hilux? hopfully the output shaft wont hang down as far as on the hi-lift, closer to the bruiser/hilux trans would be preffered. thanks and keep us posted.

Our goal is to make it as scale looking as possible, but it might be difficult. Again it is still far away from the prototype, as soon as I get the final CAD file, I will update you guys.

And we will look into the transfer case idea...

Seems like a cool idea, especially for they guys who to side step the gears My questions...in a 6 speed versionm how would you shift that from the remote?

We thought about that too, we dont have a good answer yet right now. Maybe we will talk with those FM radio companies and request them to make a special one. Again the 6 speed will depends on how good the 3 speed sell and it could be at least 6-12 months away.

The 6 speed could be controlled via 4 channel radio. Steering, throttle, 3 position channel, and hi/low channel.

How much difference in gearing would you get between the gears of a six speed. I believe 3 would be good for me with a decent but not massive jump between gears. Maybe a hi gear that'll get you to the next obstacle fast so you don't have to pick it up cause you walk faster and two nice crawl ratios, 1 for grunt and the other for good tire speed. My 2 pesos

Hum you have sparked my interest... since I am working on a project and was thinking about going with a Bruiser 3 speed. This may be even better..
I am also interested in seeing what these Axels are going to look like when completed.

any chance of having a reverse gear in it? it wouldnt really need it with an electric motor but just to add the scale side, even if unseen, it would be cool to "shift" into reverse for ultimate scale realism, as well as allowing to use forward only esc's.

eh, just a thought. using it in a crawler would be useless but for a scale build would be nifty. if it could be added easily, maybe with a lockout, then you wouldnt have to use it, instead just reversing with the esc, or maybe an optional add on. a couple of build's i allready have in mind for this trans, having a reverse gear would be cool, just for adding to the scale realisticness. yeah, it might be kinda silly, but just a thought.

Our engineer told me today it is actually easy, just add one more gear, it will be able to do reverse.

But this project might have some delay, due to it's difficulty. I will know more once we finish the R2 tranny, which expect to start shipping in 2 weeks.

I was thinking the same thing, and may have a suggestion.

The Futaba skysport 6 has a ratcheted stick on it; what i was thinking would be something like a two servo set up into a y harness; when the stick is in an up position, that would activate the first servo to shift the odd gears (using the shift gate you get for 3 speeds), and when you move it down, it would work the other servo for the even gears.

Sounds a bit complicated, but it's kinda like a full size tranny in some respects (i've seen ones like that anyway).

Just my 2 pennies
