|  Off-Road Axle CAD Preview  We will be starting production as early as Thursday. We hope to start shipping in November. We dont have an official name yet. This axle will have a center cap, that is removable, so you guys can do maintenance work. It will have a 5mm output shaft, so it will be ready to work with R2 transmission. And we will make a 5mm to 6mm converter, in case people need something like that. We are still designing the servo mount, 4 links mount and skid plate. We will have two complete different version of axle when we start shipping, one is more for TLT-1 size truck and another one for 1:8 to 1:10 scale. I hope to post a few pictures of the prototype soon... |

| Will the axle tubes be rounded or sqaure? If sqaure, could you put a tapered edge on them? On the output shafts, could you put flat spots on the top and bottom of the output shaft. And put a hole through the center much like the Traxxas stampede output shafts? This would make using stampede drive shafts much easier. Also this would allow us to use the set pins rather then just set screws. They are much more secure, and do not back out as often. Also the more ground clearance that you can get out of these axles, the better. And sharp edges around the center diff could cause the truck to get hung up on the rocks. If you maintain a 6mm fillet on all of the outer edges, this shouldn't be issue. It is hard to tell what this axle looks like with the top only view, a 3d view would provide a better idea of what is to come. I do like how it uses bevel gears without a diff, less to worry about. | OH man that is awesome, Would look great on my truck. Heck, I might have to get these to build a truck instead of getting an F-350. Any plans to make the axles with leaf mounts, blocks, and Ubolts? Would really be appealing to the scale crowd, especially those of us who never had a bruiser, or those that dont want to risk breaking their bruiser axles. I agree with Etype R though, there needs to be rounded edges for a.) function, and b.) the look. Reguardless, awesome work and cant wait to see them when completed, would go great with alot of the other products you have coming out. Keep up the awesome work!!! EDIT: Also what can we expect for the gear ratio on these axles? Will they be identical to the stock TLT axles, or are they going to be geared evn lower for strictly rock crawling action? Reason I ask is because I do more than just crawl, and its nice to be able to swap motor, or pinion/spur and gain some speed for moderate crawling, running in the grass, light jumping, etc. Last edited by Mirage; 10-24-2006 at 08:17 AM. |

| Oh man... I can see already I will be picking up the axles and the 3 speed when they are completed... Let me know, I would be interested in testing them out as well. Not a hardcore crawler but would be happy to work them into my custom project I am working on or bolt them up to my bruiser. |

| Ok guys, there wont be any sharp edges. This axle has a removable axle tube (kind of like clod). The axle tube is round, so is the center housing. Output shaft will be 5mm and drilling a hole wont be a problem, I am just waiting for some specs right now. We will make a special 5mm to 6mm adaptor, if there is a demand. I wont be able to share a 3D image right now, but we expect to have a prototype done by 2nd week of November. I will post some specs as soon as we confirm the prototype version, right now we are kind of still working on making the gears first. Price wise, it will be between $50-100 per axle, without the knuckles. Probably $110-120 with knuckle. This axle is not really designed for TLT-1 size truck, it is as wide as a clod axle. We are working on a 2nd axle, I hope to share some pics and info next week. And we expect to have a price, picture and delivery time of TLT-1 & F-350 alum axle housing within the few days as well. |

| Thanks for the update, hope to see the TLT size version soon. The price sounds very good too. Very good to hear that everything is rounded as well, so those are the same axle tubes that you sell for the clod buster now? |

| We are still working on the TLT version, hopefully we will have a 3D pic next week. The axle tube is not the same as our clod one, but it uses our clod knuckle. All internal drive shaft, output shaft and bevel gears are build from scratch. |

| on the tlt sized one, are you planning on using tlt hardware, IE inner axles shafts, diff, knuckles, that kind of stuff? or will it all be custom stuff just for your axle? also maybe think of making a spool/ring gear for a stock tlt that is a drop in stock replacement??? |

| They already have a locker for the TLT... It was just released the other week, machined aluminum. On the TLT axles, I would prefer just having a single bevel gear on a solid axle shaft. This would provide greater ground clearance, and a stronger axle. Also this would reduce the size of the diff housing, making it more scale. |

| A worm drive setup would also be a solution for a lower gear ratio along with more clearance if done correctly. Also it would raise the driveshaft for more clearance in that area. My .02 cents Way to go RC4wd for making more axles options! If you need testers let me know, I have about 4 trucks that need to be built without axles lol. Brandon |

| Im with the others, can't wait to bput my Rubicon on some of your TLT axles. Is it safe to assume that your TLT axles will be compatible with all versions of your 2.2 beadlocks designed for 4x4 trucks. More specifically, the newer 2.2 super narrow beadlocks? That would make for a wicked awesome combination if I do say so myself. |
