Ok ladies, here is a peek into what will win the Shootout:twisted: I have started getting this together. If you know me you know that it won't take me long to get this up and going! Here are a couple of picts to get ya thinking:twisted: (BTW, it's the motor on the right. I just put a 12t beside it for you to compare!)

Guys, be careful going that high on mAH when going to 6S. In extreme drag cars that race with us, most of the guys use only 2200mAH to 2500mAH when using anything higher than 4S and have gone in the high 110mph range. Heck, we go 100mph with 3S, regularly now with the 40C lipos out there. There IS a thing called to much power here, and that big red thing is just that. It will put out so many amps, you will not find any traction if you are not careful with the throttle.

With these cars, since there is only one instance of gear reduction (spur-pinion), the driveline is more efficient than your regular on-road car or buggy with all their drive cups, dogbones, suspension, etc. So if you are not used to that, you will go through those tires in a couple of passes.

To help you with traction, I would recommend getting CRC Belt Conditioner from your local auto parts store. Only that one. The rest don't seem to add stickiness to the tires like CRC does. You will have to apply that every pass. After you spray it on, let is soak in and completely dry out before setting your car on the ground. The foams will get very cold and after they are dry you will feel the added tack to the touch.

Hope these pointer help, and are not intended to be taken as put downs of your hard work. Apologies in advance if I come across as that.

PS: Weight is NOT a bad thing. After you make a few passes, you will find that addind weight on the nose in front of the front axle will help with stability, drivability and staying on the ground. Wheelie bars are for the start line only. My cars have gone airborne with wheelie bars at the end of the track, simply because the nose was too light, and not enough down force from the wings.

PSS: What I said about big batteries hold especially true when we talk about XL can motors. They require very little amperage to generate max torque which compounds everything unless you have a LOT of traction. Imagine this, I have a 6S 4300mAH Neu Lipo in my 1/8 truggy with a Medusa 36/70/2000. If I don't set my ESC and TX right, I can lay it on it's roof at any speed. That is 13lb monster and here we are talking about a car that will barely weigh 3lbs

Do you need a permit or license of some kind to buy a battery like that? Can I drive it when your done?

youngblood 11-18-2009 08:32 AM

You should use this for your GWW attempt.
