Rubicon Trail Foundation & RECON Crawlers

Presents

CANTINA FOR THE CON G6 CHALLENGE
The Rubicon Trail Foundation or RTF is a federally recognized, non profit organization dedicated to the future health of the Rubicon Trail. With the help of several 4 wheel drive clubs and countless hours from volunteers who may or may not belong to the Friends of the Rubicon (FOTR), have completed numerous trail maintenance projects since 2001.

The Rubicon Trail is the grandfather of all trails and is the most well known 4x4 trail in the World. I’ve been running the Rubicon since 1997. That was the first and last year my Dad wheeled the Rubicon with me over the Fourth of July weekend and for me personally, every trip I’ve made over the Rubicon Trail since then, temporally fills the “missing you Dad” void in my heart. Besides the obvious bonds of off roaders, the one thing that everybody who has ever driven the Rubicon Trail shares is their “first time”. These experiences that are formed on the Con must be allowed to continue and unify strangers, bond families, and keep building adventures for the next generation of off roaders.

The Cantina for the Con started off with like minded wheelers selling tacos from the tailgates of their rigs. 8 years later, thousands of dollars in donations, several hundred pounds of beef and chicken, hardcore volunteers, and one of the coolest fundraising raffles on the planet, The Cantina for the Con helps RTF do its job in keeping the Con opened and maintained for us. So when RECON Crawlers was contacted to be part of this fundraising event, the G-Train couldn’t get into 4 low fast enough.

The G-Train is gearing up for a truly amazing G6 and we’re headed to the LoonLake spillway for 3 days of fun. Saturday will begin with a Rock Riot in the morning and Stage 1 of the G6 starting in the afternoon. All G6’ers are invited to stay with the G-Crew at CampRECON. Stage 2, a night stage, will start when the stars fill the sky and will be the first G6 night stage ever held on the Rubicon Trail. The RECON G6 Ultimate Team Adventure Challenge (G6 UTAC) will begin Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon will be a RECON Crawlers 1:1 trail run. Bring your 1:1’s, utv’s, or atv’s and experience part of the Rubicon Trail with us. Throughout the weekend, RECON will be giving G6’ers trail rides on Saturday and Sunday.

Cantina for the Con G6 Challenge Intel

What – Cantina for the Con G6 Challenge & Rock Riot & G6 UTAC
When – September 1<SUP>st</SUP> & 2<SUP>nd</SUP>, 2012
Where – Loon Lake, California Stage start at the spillway.
G-Fee – Rock Riot, $5.00
G6 Challenge, $10.00
G6 UTAC, $10.00 per team (a team consists of a Driver, Navigator, & Support Driver)

RECON Crawlers will donate ALL G-Fee’s to RTF on behalf of every Driver that participates. Every driver participating will receive a one of a kind Cantina for the Con G-Tag.

-Rock Riot Tech – Rock Riot Tech will start Saturday at 0900hrs and as soon as a driver completes tech, they can start.

-Rock Riot Classes: 2.2 Pro
2.2 Pro Shafty
2.2 Sport
2.2 Sport Shafty
AR60 Stock
AR60 Modified
1.9 Scaler
-Rock Riot Course will consist of 60 gates +/- and will have a 3hr time limit. The 1.9 Scaler Class will start at 1000hrs & have a 2hr time limit.

-G6 Tech – Tech will start Saturday @ 1330hrs. Stage 1 start will be immediately following the National Anthem.

-G6 Classes: Ultra Driver
Adventurist
Wraith / 2.2
RECON G6 UTAC, (Ultimate Team Adventure Challenge).

Cantina for the Con G6 Requirements

- 5 mandatory scale items.
- 1 mandatory scale bag attached to your G-Ride. This item will be used.
- 1 scale shovel is mandatory and must be mounted on your G-Ride.
- A scale RTF or FOTR sticker is not mandatory, but highly recommended!
- Wearing your best South of the Border item is not mandatory, but highly recommended for Stage 1!
- A winch is not mandatory, but highly recommended.
- As many lights on your G-Ride as you can power. One headlamp per Driver and one light can be mounted on your radio. No limit on lumens.
- G6 UTAC intel will be released at a later date. Stay tuned, you don’t wanna miss this.
- Drivers Meeting Challenge is not mandatory, but highly recommended!

Cantina for the Con G6 Stage Preview

Stage 1 – 300 TM +/- Vendors Row skill section with several driver challenges. (5hr time limit)
Stage 2 – 150 TM +/- Night Stage. (3hr time limit)

The G-Crew is pumped up for this G6 and I know our sponsors are as well. Axial Racing, Vanquish Products, Pit Bull Tires, Novak, & Holmes Hobbies support our drivers and their pursuit of finishing a RECON G6 Challenge. Finishing is winning in a G6 Challenge. Finishing the Cantina for the Con G6 will help every Rubicon Trail user be a winner.

No sir. The Team Class is still two drivers sharing a G-Ride.

The G6 UTAC, Ultimate Team Adventure Challenge is my version of a team event and more will be posted as it gets closer.

When I checked the post the team class got squished by the G6 UTAC so I added it back in...I hope I did it right.

Second that my grocery ride Nissan Frontier probably won't last a minute on a rubicon

I just checked and I think there is a paved road to the Loon Lake resevior which is supposed to have a campground.

I have not been there is 15 years, so I don't remember how I got there or what it looks like. I'm not even sure I camped there since we wheeled in and got there at night.

Anyone have any insight on this?

I have wheeled the Rubicon numerous times and will again this summer. The road to the spill way is paved until the last couple hundred feet. There are numerous areas to camp just off of pavement in the area. The spill way itself is gravel with a slight incline at the bottom where you turn to go down to the most popular starting points to the trail. A Honda Civic can make it to the spill way.

The Cantina for the Con is a big event so camping may fill up. I would get reservations early. Parker's post made it sound like the group is camping down at the bottom of the spill way. It isn't hard to get there. The spill way is constructed of countless tons of granite and the whole area has tons of opurtunity for rc.

In my opinion this event will be awesome.

You, fellow UFC fan & instructor of our youth, are never a "schmuk". Driving a little white car to the con, is brave & no mere mortal would ever think of such a thing. You won't have an issue, White Lightning had no problems last year getting to staging & I might have an alternative for you as time gets closer. ;-)
