That is such a fine line. A 1.9 G-Ride needs some wheel speed for loose climbs, sled pulling, and during the Holidays; throwing mash taters in the air.

The Training wheel classes or the 2.2's, not so much, because the larger tire size helps clear stage obstacles.

I run a 35t with a 60t spur and 14t pinion. 32p for durability. That combo works great for me.

Mike Pham, runs a brushless system. Wheel speed is great when you need it and it crawls very well too.

You are correct, but wheel speed in a G6 is needed. I have watched your G-Ride pull a toyota which was pulling a jeep, through the mud pit!

That would not have been achieved on a 55t 80t spur, 14t pinion!

Do work, Stage Detective!

I run a 35t with a 3s with 14 pin. The best advice to give is you want your motor to stay under 160 degrees. When in need of more speed, volt up and gear down instead of increasing the pinion size. Info: Brushed Motor Selection and Gearing Guide by Vehicle | The Search for Power

DMFer,

"Wheel speed for loose climbs" was my concern. At the G6 Mountain Mash I had some trouble with loose dirt. Ironically, it was the trail marker that I had suggested.

I thought I would ask about gearing, since I'm not familiar with the KOH terrain. I'm running a 12T with a stock spur (4. I think I have a 14T laying around somewhere, maybe a little more speed wouldn't hurt.

Agama,

I have been thinking about a two (2) speed transmission for my next build. I'm undecided ... waffling at the moment. I'll have to decide when I start ordering parts sometime in the Spring.

Yup. There are some custom built rigs that run G6s, don't forget the tow strap.

The two speed tranny is awesome! I now own three of them. I'm running one in my son's Wraith with a 35T brushed motor and it's great! Crawls really well and has pretty good wheel speed. Nothing like my Pro4.

Boostamante, there's never a stupid question if you don't know the answer. You are good to go.

We will see you getting your scaler fix at the Axial RECON Ultra 4 G6!

You will encounter sand, rock, more sand, & more rock.

Wheel speed is important, but there is a balance between crawlability and turf terrorizing wheel speed.

Try different pinions, but watch for excessive heat.

I hope this helps. Do Work, G6'er!
