Default Tips for first Axialfest? Mods, waterproofing etc....?

Will be my first time at AxialFest this year. Bought a Wraith Spawn and have done few minor mods that I think will help with me getting the most fun out of this event. I moved batt. forward with CKRC tray, moved electronics to batt. tray, added droop brackets (CKRC) to lower CG and replaced stock servo with Protek 170T. Guess my main question is do I HAVE to waterproof receiver box and servo in order to compete? Or, is it possible to bypass this for now? Don't know really what to expect or what types of conditions one is required to traverse in order to compete? Strictly a beginner here. Thanks guys! Really excited to go!!!!!

Have you ran your rc good and hard slow fast climbing etc checked your temps to make sure you are under 160 degrees? If so go have fun! Of not you may want to drop a tooth or 2 for the event to get you lower temps and added torque. IMHO.

I'm far from water proof and havent had any trouble the past few years. Drive smart and be mindful of where your electronics are during water crossings...you'll be fine.

Yeah most of my electronics are in boxes that I use liquid tape on around the edges and holes to block the water. Didn't have any issues last year, just keep in mind when its warm outside its twice that in your rig. Keep an eye out and check your temps every so often.
I blew a motor last year when my motor was HOT and went through the water. Water and hot electronics don't mix. Oh and bring cash, just in case something happens. There will be vendors at Axialfest like RPP Hobbies and CKRC. So no worries just come prepared.

Yes, I put all my electronics in project box, sealed the lid with thin bead of RTV automotive black silicone, sealed the wire holes in box same way. No problems! Yes watch motor temps and bring spare parts and extra cash, RPP Hobby saved me when my super duper servo took a dump right after Friday night concourse....I was stressed. I ended up buying new Hitec HS7950TH, updated CCBEC firmware, upped voltage and replaced servo, ran the rest of the weekend without problems...had tons of fun. Thanks to RPP Hobby and thier onsite hobby shop.

Yes, AARP is awesome. I get coupons all the time in the mail for "soft food" products as well as adult undergarments.
