Utah Recon G6 / Newb Questions
 

I am wanting to attend the Utah Recon G6 (Aug. 20th). Just got a Deadbolt and besides for a little crawling with buddies this will be my first event of any kind.

Some newb question.

1. Don't have a winch yet, what should I have on my rig for when I get stuck to get help up/out.
2. I have 2 4300mah Lipos, will that be enough?
3. Do they have any type of newb mentors to help?
3. Are there parts generally available for sale if something breaks?

I may have more questions in the future, but this is a start.

Sounds like you have enough battery power to finish. You will need a tow rope! Generally some one will help you out, with there winch or with spair parts. However I would bring a few basic parts and your rc tools.

I'll be there. I will winch you through whatever if you're near me. Parts vendors aren't there always, but most of the time there is more than enough spare parts available from people there. Take a light backpack with some waters in it. Or a Camelbak. It's miles of hiking and vehicles are nowhere nearby. At 10000+ feet, you get winded easily. Are you running 3s or 2s? 2s packs don't last as long I've noticed so you may want 1 more if you're running 2s. I plan on taking 4 1800 3s packs that I hope get me through... Because 1800 is all I can fit :)

Thanks Nappy. Was actually thinking of posting on the local board to see if anyone wants to help the new guy out and meet up there and such.

I will be rollin with my brother and his wife. You may get bored going as slow as we do. We get a lot of pics and video. But if you're rollin solo, you can hike along with us...

Ran my first this year. you're going to have so much fun.

My son ran a stock deadbolt. Broke a lot because he just applied more power instead of thinking his way out. He was on 3s, shouldn't be an issue on 2s. if you can get a winch.

Take your whole rig apart, to check every screw, if you have the time.
