| 4xFord's RS10
Well, I have been lurking the RS10 builds for a while, and finally bit the bullet. Jason at Krawler Hobbies has a great sale going on these, and with metal gears down the pipeline, it was time to get to work. I will be testing/running the Krawler Hobbies chassis prototype. It has a ton of adjustments which is great for this build. So, here she is out of the box. I am going to run it stock first and see what I think needs to be changed. Yea right. :-P So after I took that pic I tore the truck down to what I am going to use, axles and shocks. The shocks are actually pretty nice with a captured ball on the metal shock cap. It also has a metal cartridge piece on the bottom, and they feel smooth. I have some ideas for impoving on them that I will get to soon. So, I made some upper link mounts. Here is a pic of both axles. On the front I am running VP Zero Ackerman High Steer Knuckles for the AX10 (RS10 has identical offset knuckles). First I mocked up an OTA type of design, but the clearance was the same as if I ran a tie rod in front of the axle. And that is when I had the idea of a vertical servo mount. I made a vertical servo mount on the other side of the axle, this allows for the stock servo mount to be used as a battery plate. As you can see, I trimmed the stock servo mount to sit lower and at the same angle as the axle tube. I am trying to get it as low as possible to help with the COG. Still looks lower than the lipo servo plate on an AX10 front axle. I am happy that metal gears are coming. I have some HH 454 pullers to run in this, but I plan to test the stock motors first. |

Ill be watching your build and probably borrowing an idea or 2. Im really liking the setup on the front axle. How did you mount the vertical servo mount?

Oh, and I forgot to mention I replaced the stubs with AX10 stubs. The stock ones are identical dimensions, but I trust the strength of the axial ones more. |

Did the same thing on my berg. Easiest mount to use and modify without going crazy is RC4wd Dig servo mount for the R2 tranny works great and already cut. Just drill a few holes.

G's steering. It also looks like a Berg style lockout would work too. Last edited by eric113; 02-18-2010 at 11:19 AM. | |

I was just looking on TCS and I think the link/shock mounts on the Berg V2 axles might just work on the RS10 axles. Thats would solve some shock mounting issues. Do you have a pic of the lockout Eric?
