Cheap Shocks
So I was just going through our 3 RS10's we have and noticed that 3 of the shocks 2 on one rig and 1 on another are broken at the top mount where the shock mounts to the chassis. The steel ball is just free floating now and it is only trapped on one side of the shock.
Is this a common problem for these shocks? |

Not that I'm aware of. Ours aren't having any problems with the shocks. Could you take a picture to show us?

I've got the same problem on 2 of my shocks. I've tried putting them back together by putting locktite on the retaining rings, but they popped off again.

The same thing has happened to my left front shock...is there any way to fix this??? As far as I can see it's not hurting crawling too bad...at least not yet.

Same thing happened to one of mine. I turned mine around, put a slightly bigger washer between the screw and ball of the shock, and it held pretty well. There was no movement at all.

Why is it that on the red cat, the shocks are mounted on the lower links and not the axel

i guess it was someones idea of making it a wide range of adjustment by being able to slide it up and down the link lol...

I suppose in theory it's a nice idea to have the shocks mounted to the links...I've seen it done on some super rigs. Having the shocks mounted like that isn't really a bad thing, I just prefer the look of having them mounted to the axle housings.

Mine did this and I used a punch to peen the outer rim into the aluminum spacer that popped out. Hasn't come out yet and that was 6~7 months ago. Just go easy with the hammer so you don't crush the whole thing, just a tap will do.

This has happened to me a hanfull of times. All i do is take niddle nose pliers and squeez it back in. You have to put some type of glue to hold it in place becuase f you don't it will come out again after a few times crawling.
