Default Steel Gear Official Thread

The RS10 Steel Gears are due to arrive around June 15th.

I wanted to make a new thread since they are talked about in numerous places on this forum and it can be confusing.

Here is the link with image and pricing.

If you click the "notify me" link on this page http://www.redcatracing.com/RC-Cars/...STEELGEARS-10T it will email you when they arrive, but some dealers might have them for a better price and might be taking actual pre orders.

Dont worry though we have around 3000 sets coming.

Darin,
It's been speculated in another thread that the gears are metric 48 pitch, not standard 48 pitch. Are the steel gears going to be standard or metric 48p?

Thanks,
John

We decided not to make them because they were going to be such a large investment and we were not willing to do it for the 4 or 5 people that said they wanted them at the time. Sorry

Redcat Racing is teh importer of the RS10 and they are making the gears.

KrawlerHobbies is a re-seller and an aftermarket supplier. Two different companies.

mis-communication I guess between the two, ok so they are making them great!

They are the same exact type as the stock plastic gears, but just made in steel. So to answer your questions they are 48p Metric.

Just installed a set and everything lines up and meshes perfectly. They run a little louder than plastic gears do (all metal gears will do this), but the added torque these can handle will be well worth the little bit of extra noise!

It is still plastic. Looking into updating that as well.

We can get the gears as well, so don't worry about everything being sold before you get yours...

yeah i have chose not to preorder as well. Darin made it sound like the 3000 was more then enough to start. hopefully i will be able to get my hands on a set for mine. they look good. i suppose if you were to have a weak point in the drive train that isnt so bad. it will just get sloppy over time. no biggie to me.
