Novak Terra Claw Crawling Brush Motor 55T

Anyone tried/heard anything on these? Thinking about buying a pair.

camobob 11-11-2010 07:33 AM

I would pass . I had a pair on my 10 with a 10/9 pinion combo . Had about half the wheelspeed of my stock 380s , and the torque was nothing to brag about. If you were already modded for 540's and had em lying around I would say drop em in , but I wouldnt buy em again. You can get a pair of 35t lathes for the same price way more wheelspeed and torque.

Ahhh gotcha, I'm juss tryin to find some cheap 540's that the stock esc can push good.

X2. I got some integy 55turn motors. They have great torque but I lost alot of wheel speed. 3s lipo solved that."thumbsup" Once you get 540s in there you'll wonder why redcat even bothered with 380's.

barshots 11-11-2010 10:33 AM

I bet. I may get a pair of novak 45's or some rc4wd 50t's prolly go the cheap route first, to close to christmas to be spending money on myself.

i bought the rc4wd cheap ones 55t. wishing i would have got the 45t for a little more wheel speed. I have the sttel gears so i dont think it would be an issue there.

barshots 11-11-2010 08:41 PM

it's either the cheepos or a pair of 85t integy lathe motors *ponders* 85t isn't that like having a super low geared transmission? I don't fully understand wat the turns mean

jsowens 11-11-2010 08:58 PM

Higher the number, the more torque...lower the number, the more wheelspeed. For example...35 turn = faster; 85 turn = slower. A 55 turn motor would be a good balance, but if you wanted to go a tad faster a 35 or 45 turn would be good.

camobob 11-12-2010 08:42 AM

no need for 85t in a rs10 at all. You will hate the slowness unless your running 3s lipo. You dont want to go over 55t with that rig and I suggest 35t still very crawlable motor plus you can jump your rig across gaps on 2s. I run 55ts in my 10lb clod and its so/so but I cant pop the wheels off the ground.

I ordered 2 45t rc4wds i'll grab some novak 45's after the 1st of the year
