Pimp cane 10

Why hasnt anybody tried a tortion chassis on their 10 yet ? I had mine climbing stairs, it was waaay more capable than anythig else I tried and yes it was 2.2 legal @ 12.5 inches . No shocks or links to get in the way . run the biggest damn motor you can fit with BTA steering too . Just an Idea , - Bob

The pimp cane clearance really does help and is super light. I my self always wanted to build a 1:1 rock buggy but its not in the cards so i built a 1/10 rock buggy"thumbsup" do you have pics of your setup

Jer 01-28-2011 12:15 PM

I agree, lets see this setup

camobob 01-28-2011 03:28 PM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LATz1gLCdM I sold my rs10 axles a looong time ago . You can search my name and maybee find some infor in the rs10 section. I have an original pimpcan chassi sthat I would like to try on an rs10 . I made the one in the video out of window blind channel . No shocks or links , no setup I ad could climb like that one could.

That's awesome and it still has about the same amount of flex as my sprung tuber but with way better break over. Did you have to drill more holes in spine to add flex?

camobob 01-28-2011 11:07 PM

nope . no holes , the plastic channel is pretty flexy . Im really wanting to get a set of axles now to see how the og pimp cane would do on them

pipm cane

I'm fixing to start building a pimp cane on rs 10 axels. I will post pictures
and update's. I know im runing stock esc and motor's. Getting ready to order new wheel's and hb rovers white.

tom80 01-29-2011 11:54 AM

do you plan on running one axle reversed like they do with bergs to keep mounting simple?

camobob 01-30-2011 06:35 AM

I wouldnt flip the axle . The clod did that because it was so bulky , but I dont think there is a need on the 10

kpickels 01-30-2011 05:02 PM

I plan on running the the way they are factory. I've been looking at alot of pimp cane setup's but I honestly think with the rs10 axel's I wont need to change the way they are setup. I'm gonna run it and change thing's and see what work's best I will post picture's.

camobob 01-30-2011 05:27 PM

Sweet I cant wait to see what kind of mount you come up with . I have a good idea but dont have any axles in my hands. Yet

kpickels 01-30-2011 05:35 PM

yea I think im gonna order some new tires and rims to. I will post some pic's of my little rock pile im building. I figured if i was gonna be building some rigs i need a spot to crawl close to home. so why not build 1 lol.

bahogtubig 01-30-2011 07:43 PM

any idea where to get those pimp canes? i saw old threads but seems vendor has already stopped selling this.

kpickels 01-30-2011 08:27 PM

you can send a message to run2jeepn. he is the owner of jpcustoms rc. he is the man to talk to about pimp cane. plus his site has alot of other products for rc's. Good guy.

camobob 01-31-2011 08:36 AM

I am fairly new and have an RS10. I just came across this post and wow am I mad I didn't read it a year ago. I sent an email to JP custom rc to see if he had any intetions of making them again. No word yet. I have read lots of people making their own home made versions but no real guides other than a peice of aluminum in the middle with holes drilled in it for flex.

I also wish I woulda seen this thread before building mine up... I did some searching and I really really like this guy's design! "thumbsup"

Most of the time you won't find a guide anywhere on making a chassis...if you did, companies who make chassis' would go out of business. Best thing to do is do some research and read around on different builds and try your best to copy it if you wanna build one.

soooo ive been reading this and a bunch of other torsion chassis threads and waiting on my new chassis to come in i decided to take aa trip to Lowes and see what i could come up with.....$4 and 15 mins later this is what it looks like!!
i used a piece of screen something or other i saw in a old ax10 thread ($3.66 for 8') and two small pieces of aluminium angle to mount it to the axles (only part i dont like...to thin). zip tied the battery and stock esc on top and headed out in the yard to see what would happen.:ror::ror:

ow the motors are the frist thing to hang up.....other then that its almost boreing how well it actually works:shock::ror::ror:

thinking about getting a piece of 1/2" alum. channel and making something like ZNO wing delete kit to mount them. this.......thing flexes rediculiously but it also flexes under power and deceleration pretty bad due to not having enough back bone.
