For those thinking of 540 Swaps

I was thinking abouta 540 swap to be able to gain some wheel speed without sacrificing torque.

Instead I took a cell from a botched 2s lipo pack and made my current 2s into a 3s, 30c 5000mah pack.

WOW. I have only played in the snow and over some bumps in my yard and it is night and day. Better torque and the rooster tails in the snow are too fun!

It's a whole lot easier then 540's. BUT I'll probably do the swap just because!!! My drivetrain hates me.

Keep testing and let us know how the clod stall is? Thats the #1 reason I went 540, was to get those axles turning at the same time.

I'm wondering as well if the 390s throw a lot of sparks on 3s? I have some CHEAP 540s that give me a fireworks show on 3s. Just curious.

I run dual esc so clod stall is already gone. As for sparks I wasn't watching.

Oh and I broke the front diff pin. But I had broken the rear with 2s so I'm not pointing to the better power as a blame.

Did you break them in before you ran them? or did you get the handwound? I've got some HH 35t's on the way (any day now!) and I'm following Johns advice and breakin em in. as well as advance timing.

My RC4WD 45t's are built IDENTICLE to the stock 390's. They have a real funky brush face on them requiring some serious break-in. I really don't think they liked 3s. They got a little rough after 10min of hard testing. They did however, snap Both Allen keys I was using for spur pins in that time. So it's hard to tell how the trucks running with my temporary pins/plates. :lmao:
