Default RS10 ESC malfunction

Got a Fly Sky GT-3B to get some range out of my rs10. Was going to change out the new RX to find out the rs10 runs in rev. when the battery is connected. Rx not hooked up and the esc not plugged into the RX?
Ran fine the day before except for the range of the TX. I assume the ESC went bad but at this particular time? Can the old esc be reprogramed?
The new 2.4 RX is OK as I powered it and ran it with a servo and it worked.
What twin motor ESC is everyone replacing the OE with. Or is the Redcat OK? ONE STEP FORWARD TWO STEPS BACK!

So the crawler is going in reverse without the new rx hooked up? If I'm reading that right...just install the new rx and see if everything works normal. If it still works in reverse, just change the throttle channel to either "reverse" or "normal", whichever one fixes it.

+1.

Also recalibrate the ESC to the new RX.

I would tkink the esc switch would control if the esc is on or off. The esc with battery connected runs the two motors, switch on or off? This tells me the esc is not right.

Stock electronics? It's normal for a BEC to keep things powered even if the on/off switch is off.

Also, never turn on the crawler if the TX is not already on.

I gave up! I can't get it out of rev. no matter what I do. Runs in rev. plugged, unplugged Sw. on SW. off. Tx on Tx Off. Rx plugged or unplugged.
Looking for a replacement ESC. Thanks for the help.

Doc, do you have a link? I just smoked the ESC in my RS10 last week. I have a replacement in route from redcat that they warrentied but I would really rather upgrade so that I don't have any further issues. It looks like there is a Outcry brushless ESC on sale at rc4wd but not the dual motor ESC.

If you study the pictures really well, you'll find they same ESC on flea bay in gray for less.

Do yourself a $10 favor and buy the one not for dual motors, they are exactly the same specs, just splice in one more wire for each of the motor wires. Also, if you have a thinner aftermarket chassis it can be tough to fit the Outcry, they are huge.

Did you set the trim for the throttle? If the trim is off, or the channel needs to be reversed it will run backwards/forwards when its not supposed to.

Well it's been a month. Got a 2 motor, 300 amp ESC for cheap on EBay. Got the RS10 running in the house. Have not been able to see how much range the GT3B has.
A question.
Does the screen Light dim on the GT after startup? Mine does?
Should I install the stock fan on the new ESC? Or, will a 300amp keep it's cool ?

Yep, the backlit screen will auto-dim on the gt3b. I assume it's to conserve battery power.

A much needed improvement. Lots of range. I'm happy with the radio and $36 price tag. Also put a Fly Sky RX in my airboat. I'm running out of weather here in Minnesota.

Awesome , I figured for the price and options it has I figured I'd give it a try. There's also a ton of mods to hack it to do much more.
