Default Recommendations on a new esc?

I want to run 3s lipos on my rs10xt and from what I hear I will need an esc that can handle the 11.1v that a 3s puts out. My question is what would you guys recommend that is lower budget but will still work well? Don't need anything fancy, just effective and durable.

if you dont want to go down the road of dual esc and throtle mixing the way i have, (you'd need a new tx and rx, the stock one is pretty basic) then i believe the outcry esc is a good option for about 50-60 dollars.

have been running RC4WD Outcry ESC / Dual Motor & 3s lipos (steel gears did a number on stock 8 tooth pinions & had to switch over to the 10 tooth that came with the steel gears)

did run the stock ESC on 3s lipos / with lipo alarm and never had any issues - just upgraded ESC anyway

Like this one

ESC 7 2V 16V 320A High Voltage Brushed Speed Controller RC Car Truck Buggy Boat | eBay

there is a single motor and a dual motor version. the only difference is the dual motor has 4 motor leads. you can make a "Y" harness yourself and save 10 bucks by getting the one with the single motor leads.;)

My Dad and I both run these in our readcats and they do great on the stock motors at 3s and they are 4s rated. I doubt this could ever handle 320 amps but I also doubt these rigs will ever see anything above 150, maybe 200 in a extreme bind but stuff will break at that point.

Decent drag brake as long as your rig is light.

I have ran my 18t on these for a short time, but these ESCs are only rated down to 22t motors.

Never thought about going brushless. Will I still have enough torque to slowly crawl up big rocks?

Allot of $$ is something I don't have right now, especially for Hillbilly Deluxe.

So with these specs:
  1. high-frequency drive system
  2. low-resistance field-effect inner tube
  3. nimh 4-6cell (4.8-7.2 V) & lipo 2s (7.2V)
  4. forward 320A, reverse 240A, Brake 250A
  5. BEC output of 5.6V @ 2A
...what's the worst that could happen if I use one of those $10 in my rig with a 2s lipo or 6cell nimh?

Looking at the two from ebay, one has a fan one doesn't.

Offroad is slow so you are probably better off with a fan to keep the ESC cool.

On road you get air cooling from all the movement so you can probably do without a fan and it might even work against you if the air pressure stalls the fan trapping the air.

If you are going to run it off 2S I don't think you will see much if any improvement over stock. Still its only $10 so its a cheap replacement if you burn out the stock one. Its only got 5v 2A BEC so you would probably want to use an external BEC with it (but we already discussed that )

you should note that...

"This equipment used in electric model car, and according to the following the
information of choice scope configuration."

so make sure you have the right "choice scope configuration" and then you will benefit from these great features...

"automatically find the center"... huh?
"high-frequency drive system"...you can drive it often?
"The use of low-resistance field-effect inner tube"...yeah, definitely want to use a low resistance inner tube...err
"With forward and backward functions for car, boat"...not sure I want my car to have backward functions, thanks!

Put a smile on my face.

How does that work? Esc ratings on certain turns?

Yeah they do say some funny things when they're trying to make the sale and don't know English.

The $13 ones here are shipped from the USA and specifically say "off road" in the title; I wouldn't add a fan unless I found the ESC getting hot... even then it's only like $6 - less if I can find just the fan.

Well $13 makes it cheap enough to do a dual ESC experiment just to see how well it works. Quality control might be a issue since this is generic and from a no name retailer so you can't rely on getting a refund if it doesn't work or work for long. You might but... so buying two might make sense anyway.

I did find this thread on it. Haven't read the whole thing
