I could have done straight links on mine with the gmade chassis but im not sure its possible with the stock one. Why do you want to keep them straight?

Thank you for the help, but to clarify you have the BEC plugged into the "fourth slot" on the stock Lansu rx? 1&3 channels mixed steering channels, 2nd channel ESC (minus the red hot wire), and 4th slot external battery slot (like on nitro powered truck) gets the BEC plugged into it correct? Also have you noticed the outcry getting very hot?

I may not be able to like you said, but I don't want to buy new bent links and it is a bit of a hassle to bend those stock links to matching bends, especially since I don't have the tools to do it easily and if I have to do "s" bends that makes it even more of a pain. Also I wasn't planning on mounting the shocks to the axles, but if I bend the links i probably will need to mount the shocks to the axles.

The Cat is coming along slowly but surely. The HB Rovers and servos have by far been the best upgrade to performance. I rigged a bottle full of BB's to the front upper link mount which for now works pretty good as a free way to get weight over the front axle. Running 2S 2400 lipo with an integy lipo alarm which gives good consistent power, but not enough. Really hope I get the ZNO 540 conversion in this week, I think the 540's will give it the power it needs to crawl the rocks I am crawling on. Will post pics as soon as I can get the 540 conversion done.

Got all the stuff I need for the 540 conversion today. About to give this thing the power it needs, wish me luck. Pictures to come.

Good luck with it man. It is a bit challenging fitting it all without rubbing. What did you end up getting for motors? I didnt even think zno was making 540 kits anymore. Dont forget to put in the shortened gear shaft or the case wont close right.

Can't get the case to close, do I need to order a shortened gear shaft?

Dremel cut down the gear pin. I have the rear axle done metal gears, plate, pins and the 540 motor. That took a lot longer than I anticipated...

I thought they used to come with them. If you have a dremmel then cut or grind it down. Just go a little at a time till it fits tho. Its hard to put it back on after lol

I got one axle done and remounted but with binding on the lower link, now I have to hit the sack have to be up at 5AM for work. I will probably have to wait until Sunday in order to have time to finish it unfortunately. Took a lot longer than I expected. Hope the power gain is worth it. May have some questions about suspension after I get the other axle done. Thanks man.

sorry it took a bit to get back to you.

wiring to receiver goes as:
1: front servo steering
2: speed control on ESC
3: rear servo steering
4: fan on ESC & wires from BEC (spliced together before plug)

Thanks Pat, once I get the motors, gears, plates, pins and suspension fixed I will be looking forward to actually wiring it up to run. I am hoping I can sneak in a few hours to build out the front axle, but with my wife working her 3 on this wed. -Fri. and going to the Alabama game Saturday I am guessing I am down till Sunday. Really looking forward to seeing the Cat run after all is finished... The 390's really lacked in power so I am hoping to see a drastic improvement.

Maybe by some miracle my 6 year old little girl will let me work on the truck... lol

Got it done, but it was not the easiest thing in the world... Has a ton more power now but just raised the suspension to get shocks out of the way of the motors. Still need to figure out how to lower it and change out the ESC. then I will be golden. By the way if you get the rc4wd pinion gears expect to drill/dremel the shaft of your motor in order to get enough thread touching thread between the grub and pinion to hold it in place...

i have had a lot of luck with the tower pro mg946r servo
Towerpro MG946R 12kg 55g / 12kg / .20sec
the stock esc was always able to handle both servos with no trouble
it has metal gears and 12kg of force. they use 4.8 to 7.2 v
not bad for $10.22

a lipo cutoff is best if you want to run a lipo
if it is the rs10 xt it has the flat battery tray as well as the 390 motors
and the better top link mount
a bec is needed for the really powerful servos but for the lighter rigs
imo we do not need the super strong servos
eventually i willl get 2 of the holmes mini escs and then i will need a bec
but i wont need a lipo cutoff
