Client Build: Creeper Clone

Long time customer of mine contacted me about cloning my "Virginia Creeper" and after a fair amount of discussion we got the ball rolling. Here's the beginning of the journey.

I will detail all the various mods as best I can to give you all some insight into how I work.

Whenever I do a project for someone I always step it up a notch. This build will be put together with proper fasteners and a lot more attention to detail. Should be interesting...stay tuned:evil:

Got down to the creek with my girl child and we had a good time. Spent the past hour or so cleaning the rig. Nothing broke so that's a plus. Got a slide show video coming up on my super high tech method of cleaning the creek off the creeper.

Custom Chassis Created: Regent 120U

Had to get this chassis perfected before I could tear into the RS10 XT and finally around 9PM after one helluva long day I got to put it together and have a look at it.

1/4" Lexan, stainless HW, Revo Ends all the geometry is worked out for 120mm shocks, 95mm uppers, 130mm lowers. Shocks can mount direct to axle or to my plates.

Hey thanks."thumbsup" Venom shocks. Got them on eBay. Come with two sets of springs and mounting HW. 4 Shocks for $24 is my kind of deal. Seem to be decent. Not a lot of damping. I think they could use a fill with some 40 weight...just guessing.

How stiff are these, using the stiffer springs, compared to the stock RS10 shocks? Softer? Same? Stiffer? Considerably stiffer?

Blue springs are stiffer and red springs are looser wound but about the same gauge as the RS10 coils. Consider looser wind, longer length, and the adjustable collar and you've got the potential for softer or firmer than the RS10 IMO.

But I gotta get down to the shop and get some links made or I will never know:evil:

More tonight!

top links look like they are diving down. have you thought about extending them? seems like you can get a smoother resoponse from the suspeninsion and some increase in steering by clocking the axel.

They are about parallel to the lowers at the mount point shown. I have several mount points for the upper and lower links to adjust axle angle. On my other Regent chassis I pinched the upper and lower points and this introduces exaggerated clocking as the suspension moves up and down.

Since I will not be live testing this clone I have no input on whether parallel or pinched is better on the rocks.

Thanks for the info."thumbsup"
