First post, rs10 problem

Ok, my first post on this forum, but ive been lurking for a bit. I have a first gen rs10, and i just replaced the esc with an axial ae2. The problem im having, I think, is improper initial setup. The process is like this: Turn on transmitter, hold full throttle. Turn on esc, continue holding throttle until esc beeps blah blah. The problem is, I get no beeping on full forward. I then go to full brake, esc does fine, then neutral no problem. The symptom Im having is a strange glitch. On flat ground, crawler works fine. Try to climb an obstacle, and one motor will go reverse, and at a different throttle rate (faster) than the other motor. I should say that I did a 540 conversion some time ago, and it was working wonderfully. Any ideas? Im kinda stumped. Motor wiring is fine, as both motors turn the same way under low load situations, and other that clod stall, its perfect. it only seems to happen when trying to cover obstacles....I think its the setup on esc, but I cant get it to program like axials instructions indicate it should. Any and all suggestions short of gasoline and a match will be tried.

So you are running 2 540 motors off 1 AE2 esc?

Yes, 2 55 turn 540 motors, one esc. Which has been done successfully before, so I felt comfortable with it.
