rs10 vs everest 10

Looking to pick up my first "real" crawler, im torn between the rs10 or the everest. What are yall's opinions? or any comparable vehicles in the same price area? <300$

Thanks For the help guys/gals

Re: rs10 vs everest 10

apples and oranges

one main thing in common is they both allow for a lot of tuning and tweaking.
both give you your money's worth and both do well on the trail.

for just crawling I would say get the rs10, with a better radio and using two escs along with
the 4ws you can have a lot of control. if you like the scale realistic look then the Everest seems to be
an economical start for your build.

you could get one of each and then let us know

Thanks for the reply Cabron, ended up pulling the "trigger" so to speak for the rs10, should be here within the week. prepare to be bombarded with photos.

I am currently driving a cheap maisto crawler from walmart with a 9.6v mod, cannot wait to see how this performs over that. though when i pass it on tp the 2 year old she sould be excited

I was really impressed by the rs10. To have so much you can do to it for so little to start was awesome. It was my first crawler as well. You shouldn't be disappointedhttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...59bc0e0d16.jpg

Re: rs10 vs everest 10

:lmao:They really are great! Mine keeps up with my friends Axial AX10 in perfect rhythm. It will even beat it in some crawling spaces. Make sure you order new steering servos because the stock ones break super easily. I ordered a kyosho inferno and it works great! http://www.amazon.com/Kyosho-Inferno...=AZC10Z4SLMKX9 It will be a huge upgrade from your maisto and you wont regret buying it. If you have any problems contact me as i will probably have had them to. Also if you decide to make any upgrades tell me how they work and i might try them myself.

Re: rs10 vs everest 10

so i got my truck last night (2 days early!!) first impressions are it is fairly well built for a "off brand" hobby grade rc. I charged the battery and went to take it for a rip, that was a fail. I have forwards and backwards, but no steering input from the tx. the servos are working, if i swap the servo with the esc it turns with the throttle, but it wont move with the "steering wheel".

So i opened up the tx ( i know i know warranty" and noticed there doesnt appear to be an antenna wire coming from the circuit board. anyone else experiance this issue? know where i am supposed to solder the antenna lead? worst case; whats a "decent" stick tx that will allow me to keep my rear steer, a "plug and play" if you will.

Re: rs10 vs everest 10

by any chance did you read the instructions? specially on selecting steering modes?
might need to calibrate the transmitter, check the settings, endpoints, etc

this being a 2.4 ghz there might not much of an antenna.

I use a spectrum dx7 and the orangerx receivers from hobbyking, very happy
with this combination. I have 5 crawlers with 4ws and 2 escs each.

Re: rs10 vs everest 10

I love my rs10. I haven't done much intense crawling with it yet, just small rocks and trails but I like it so far. I'm pretty sure the everest. I got the rs10 mainly because it has two motors and four wheel steering.

Re: rs10 vs everest 10

It's alive!!!! I got frustrated and took it apart, put it back together and voila! Houston we have liftoff, the reciever wires must have been loose or something, took it out for a few minutes this evening, far more impressed with this rig tonight than I was last, now to not empty my wallet upgrading this thing

where'd you get that body?

Re: rs10 vs everest 10

busted

good you got it going again. once you get more familiar with your rc it gets easier to troubleshoot
and fix problems. it will not hurt to check as many of the screws to make sure they are tight.
good tools will make life easier specially the allen wrenches. getting the 3 good allens that are used most
is better than buying a big set of cheaper quality ones.

for sure get ready to replace servos. get two at least, if you have a spare the others will not break. haha
metal gears for sure, the higher torque the better. there are many servos out there that are capable but
they come in many prices from 10.00ish to way over 100.00. shop around get at least 12kg, 20kg is better. (170oz/in and 249oz/in)

found this servo comparison site
Advanced Servo Search Results
to help see what is available

I am cheap, I use tower pro mg946 from hobbyking. out of 15, 3 became unusable. in 8 years

there are better ones out there haha
look at pro modelers they look quite tuff, this is the one I want though I have to buy in pairs haha
420oz-in v3

pictures to keep us amused
there are many threads in here showing what people have done to their rs10s

enjoy

I've had pretty good luck with the power HD servos. They're 25kg and pretty cheap but sturdy. I found it on eBay for around $25

Re: rs10 vs everest 10

For future viewers, I'd recommend the E10 if you're cheap or have a tendency to upgrade like mad. It can use a lot of Axial parts. The RS10 is great if you want a great crawler but don't feel like any modding. I highly recommend 3S & a uBEC for both models.

Sazzlefrats 09-02-2016 02:53 PM

Re: rs10 vs everest 10

Why the Ubec? I have a Everest 10 (not 4WS... yet, still not understanding why I was told not to use a y harness on stock receiver)

Smokin' Joe 09-02-2016 04:47 PM

Re: rs10 vs everest 10

I didn't make the post, but I assume he's recommending a ubec because you can give your servo 6 volts instead of 5 and get a little more torque and servo speed that way. Also, although the stock ESC is rated for 3S, it's more extra voltage that the linear BEC it includes has to turn into heat which is theoretically harder on it.

Re: rs10 vs everest 10

I wired my two servos together on my everest 10 and because they face different directions the rear steer works perfect. Stock everything I only bought a few links and the servo plate and a servo I took off my twin hammers
