Default Help With Everest-10 Drivetrain/Chassis Mods...

Hello fellow crawlers, I'm having a spot of trouble with my Redcat. My 20t motor and 14t pinion (finally) arrived and I threw them in the truck, only to find that apparently the 20t is a little bigger, as the motor presses right ip against the side of the TVP chassis plate and leaves no room for adjusting pinion/spur mesh. It physically fits, but the gears grind like nothing I've heard before. Anybody have any ideas about how to relocate the gearbox or somehow clearance the motor in another way? I'm slightly worried about drilling holes in the plastic bottom chassis plate, as the holes may combine and ruin the plate over time if I don't relocate it far enough away. Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks

You could probably put some 3mm washers between the chassis plate and skid plate and battery tray. May need to stack a few of them and use longer screws if needed.

The three options I see is

1 do as #9 suggested

2 redrill the skid. Its been done plenty of times to fit a scx10/ax10 trans. I'm going to redrill my sons skid for a different motor issue.

3 a new chassis either scale or comp style.

Thanks, any suggestions you know of as far as comp style chassis? I would just go ahead and order the TCS XTrail scale chassis, however if have to order a new body as well and frankly I love the massive flex that the TVP chassis gives me.

Man, that Fastback II chassis would be killer on an E-10, too bad they aren't for sale anymore....

I ditched the side plates and put everything on a Integy 2.2 tube chassis. You could go that route!

I really like the looks of that cage, and the price, but how durable is it? I've heard lots of reports of bad welds on integy products including this cage. It sure looks cool!

I beat the hell out of mine & it's held up just fine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Just keep in mind there's not allot of space in there so you have to get creative with your electronics & battery. I was able to get everything tucked inside, but I had to switch to 2200mah 3s. That's about the largest battery that will fit.

I've found that mine is very durable, I've rolled mine down a large rock hill, landed it on its roof on pavement, no breakage or folded in the chassis. Bob is right though you got to get creative with space. This chassis would definitely benefit from motor on axle. Other than that I am happy with mine.
