Has anyone received a confirmation that they are getting the axles? I got my name on the list earlier, but no word one way or the other.

I never received any kind of confirmation that I was on the list when I signed up.

It was posted on redcat's Facebook page. If you didn't make the list when you signed up, it notified you that the list was full. It should have told you that your information was on record or something to that effect.

How much are they?

Do these portals have gear reduction in the portals? Will the overall crawl ratio be way lower than before or did they raise it in the r&p to keep it about the same? Should be a lot stronger that way if so.

It's really cool Redcat is stepping up.

I still can't believe portals went from outcast to the in thing.

I emailed Redcat 2 months ago asking for an ETA (since I drug my feet and didn't pre-order) and the response from "Mike F" was 3-4 weeks. Has anybody heard anything new?

They are expecting the test axles at the end of this month. I will be getting a set of the test axles.

Last I saw there was a manufacturing issue with the spools for them.
So that's what is holding them up.
Hopefully they'll be doing the pre-order ones soon.

Ok cool. This happened after running for 20min of a new truck lol. Precarious situation so def not a manufacturing issue, more of situation/operator error.

Parts will be on order, and running to HobbyTown in the AM to get me a quick fix.

I will probably just run the stock ones until they break then upgrade to scx10 axle unless Redcat comes out with an awesome axle at a good price.

When my stock ones give out I was planing on SCX10ii axles, but the thought of portals would be great. I am now eyeing the new TRX4 sport axles as they don't have the locker cable to deal with and there is a ton of brass and aluminum upgrades out there. But, now comes along Redcat with another possible option. I am very pleased with my daughters and mine Gen7's I am very abusive to mine (3 days a week up and down a 2 mile loop on AZ mountain in temps up to 100 degrees). I thought I would have broke more and burnt out the motor by now (c-hub, plastic front shock screw thread and body damage is all). So I am happy with the Redcat quality and looking forward to the new portal axles.

Same thing happened to my son today. Well, sort of... he trashed the inner C on both sides. I wouldn’t say he was abusing it, but definitely running hard.
Is this a common issue?

yes, I believe it is. With the original knuckles, this wasn't a problem because the steering couldn't physically turn far enough to put the axles into bind. With these high steer knuckles, the steering can turn farther than the dogbones can take, and when they bind, the chub ends up paying the price.

This problem can be rectified by backing off a little bit on the steering end points, but most people don't do this with a brand new truck out of the box, so instead the c-hub breaks.

On my Gen7 I've upgraded to the CV axles, and even those can be bound up. I managed to break my CV axles and not the c-hubs though.

Next step is to upgrade to SCX10 axles, which should tolerate more steering angle, but to do this upgrade it's also necessary to upgrade the front locker.

Redcat's portal axles are ordered and on their way!

I'll have a full review on the Budget RC channel as soon as I get them.

I tried to order mine today too but my promo code wasn't good so now I have to wait until tomorrow. My buddy had the same issue but was able to get a new code and got his ordered.
