I can see your point there. The main difference is the permanently locked diffs on the redcat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Redcat better watch out! Traxxxas has been spitting out lawsuits faster than they put new bodies on the slash. Other than that they look cool and I'd buy a set for my son's Everest. |

There is aftermarket doing the same for trx4. Only other difference I seen was the diff cover is flipped.

I just seen this same portal axle design on an older crawler yesterday.. Price is going to make or break this new design. I cant justify over $100 for a set plastic housing axles when you can get steel housing or cnc aluminum ones for $80 to $90 a set. Last edited by THX_138; 02-15-2018 at 09:46 AM. |

Interesting. If they offer these as a standalone I may pick up a set to graft on to my twin hammers. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk |

Ooohhhh I like those. Always have been impressed with the TRX4 portals and wished my Gen7 had something like them. Looks like you gotta swap to a chassis mount servo as well. I like that too. Hope they come out soon. I also hope they will offer aluminum chubs too. Like Traxxas' axles they have a longer lower 'arm' for lack of a better term, on their chubs that looks to me like it could be a common breaking point. Wonder if we'll have to change our gearing at all? Nevertheless, I want as long as they're not stratospherically priced.

Traxxas is on attack! Redcat beware, frivolous lawsuits abound. It’s ridiculous what there doing to the Nero, check out the rc sparks video on it. This is a hobby to enjoy, and traxxas wants to be able to charge a ton of money. Don’t get me wrong they make a great product but copyrights in this industry should be short lived!!! Fun for all!!! |

Redcat has come out with enough improvements for this vehicle that it's almost time for a Gen8. |

Man, that's cool. It looks like Redcat is trying to get serious. They could be a big player in the future if they keep this stuff up. Now only if Vaterra would give us Ascender owners and upgrade. |

| Re: Redcat is making an upgraded axle design for the Gen7 and everest10 (Pics) I think you're right. The Gen7 has become a huge hit, and Redcat seems to be doubling-down on improving it instead of just enjoying the sales numbers. Between this and some of their other new offerings (that I don't have any first-hand experience with), it looks like they're really trying to gain market share in areas other than flea-market crap.

Looks nice. I would like to know the price. Aluminum axle housings are $45 from Redcat these are probably be $90+ each.

I would hope that the price is a lot lower than that. It doesn't look like the axle tubes & c-hubs are aluminum. At most it looks like the center section is aluminum. Though to be honest, a complete portal axle for $90 would probably sell like crazy. |

I wonder why they charge so much for Redcat when you can get good SCX10 axle housings for $20 range for the Axial. Just encourages folks to go that route. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk |

What redcat axles are you talking about? Their plastic housings are quite a bit cheaper than the comparable Axial plastic housings. Their aluminum housings cost more because, well, aluminum. As for these new portal axles, we're just speculating right now, but the only portal axles available are TRX4 axles or aftermarket. Neither of those options are cheap.

...don't forget the MST CFX-W portal axles, that came out LONG before Traxxas. edit: here's a link: https://www.amainhobbies.com/mst-mpa...210568/p618436 I'd think they'd need to come in cheaper than that to sell well, like sub-$150 for the pair. I'm interested to see what they come up with. Last edited by TheLetterJ; 02-20-2018 at 02:41 PM. |

You can get SSD, Xtra Speed, Boom Racing, etc, etc aluminum housings for the SCX10 for $20-$30. That's 1/2-2/3the price of Redcat axle housings at $45 Heck, for $5-$10 more, you cam get a very nice set of Xtra Speed complete axles. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you misunderstood?
