Red cat portal axles
 

Hello hobbiest I was doing some surfing last night and come across the red cat will be sell the axles as a protal kit which includes the front and rear axles shock mounts slipper clutch for $100 which is decently price my opinion just thought I would share info on it

I just went though their spare parts shop online, all the parts for a set of axles for the current Everset Gen7 (non-portal) came to ~ $150 total.

The everest 10 axles are only $20 complete ready to bolt in on ebay right now same as the gen7 i wish i had a need for them but i need the metal axles or the smaller 10ii axles

I got a beta set and after the current update, they think they’re well worth the money. Really hope some aftermarket companies start upgrading that axle!

Are these axles a completely new design or do they share some parts with other rigs like there old axles did

100% new design. Even the lockers are unique, which frankly, wasn't necessary.

Red cat emailed my and said they will not fit the Everest 10 only the gens models so upgrade for you guys

The everest 10 axles and the gen 7 have the same axles do you mean they only fit the gen 8

The won’t fit as far as a drop in replacement for the Everest 10 doesn’t have the chassis mounted Servo

They are set up differant but the main parts are the same housings gears front shaft lockers only differance is the rear lockouts and shafts and one front knuckle has a panherd mount so if you had a gen 7 and replaced the axle with a e10 axle you would just put your partz on it no modification needed to any parts so ya a direct swap

So i was woundering if the gen8 used the same gears as the gen 7 or shared any other parts or were compatable with any axial parts or maybe traxxass parts but there saposed to be a all new design so the only gears for them are there gears and axle shafts housings knucklez and so on are they only redcat or

The Gen 8 portals are the same as the set they are releasing for the Gen 7.
As far as the stock axles for the Gen 7, yes they are pretty much the exact same as the E10 had.

Ok so the new gen 7 with have the same axles as the gen 8 but with out portals

No. The Gen7 axles are nothing like the portals that Redcat designed, and they have absolutely no interchangable parts. The Gen7 axles are the same as the E10 axles, but not the Gen8.

Thats what i thought but

It sounds like there sayin there gona put the new designed axles on the gen 7 also

Just witb out the portals

Ill probably just buy the body and trans set up and build the rest out of aftermarked parts that way i know what im getting
Not that ive had any issues with my other redcats i just like the aftermarket overlap and if there isent any aftermarket for the gen8 ill just build one from scratch

The portals ARE the axle design. It's not like the portals are a part that just bolts on to a regular axle. The whole thing is designed around that aspect. I wouldn't be surprised if Redcat redesigned the standard axles, but aside from maybe the spool and the diff cover, nothing would be common.

the new axles look alot better than the traxxass axles but untill they make potmetal axles im gona use the axial axles tbe hole portal axle thing isent that big a deal in my book but i realy like there new trans and tcase set up and th3 body is awsome i cant wait to see the super scouts start poping up with some original paint themes

I thought the portals bolted on but after looking at a close up they dont the housings are one piece and the knuckles are mold3d in kinda sucks if they used a simmiler design on there gen 7 and maybe the everest 10 it would be better for the aftermarket to jump on board but being a one modle part right now dosent open the door verywide for potential sales of aftermarket parts i was realy hoping for.some overlap parts just to get better aftermarket suport

After looking at the trans set up i dont think its gona work for me there dosent look like there is any gear reduction in the trans
Maybe they will make different gears for the tcase the gearing would suck with out the portal boxes
