Gen7 spindle bushings Good morning! I just picked up a Gen7 used. Everything looked decent and it really is. The previous owner put aluminum c-hubs on it, and must have forgotten to put those bushings back in when mounting the spindles. I was testing it in my living room last night and all 4 of the screws came loose and one fell out. I was able to find them all, but i need to replace the bushings. I have looked around and googled for answers, but I can't find just those as replacements. I have found some for other vehicles, but i can't find a cross-reference between say, axial and redcat for them. My question is, what's the best replacement for part number 13858 for the Gen7? Are there metal ones that can be used? Or am i better off just buying a set of spindles and only using the bushing that come with them. Thanks! |
Re: Gen7 spindle bushings 18005 | Redcat Racing EDIT: The newer high-steer style arms show 13858 as the part number for those bushings (as you already knew), but I don't see that part number for sale on Redcat's site. (Now I understand why you're asking this question. ) I don't recall those bushings being a different size than the ones that came with the older plastic steering links that I linked above. If I get time tonight, I'll pull one apart and see if they're interchangeable. Before I paid $8 for those bushings, I'd pay $20 for the aluminum knuckles. |
Re: Gen7 spindle bushings Which aluminum ones would you suggest? I found a set on amazon that come with the steering link and servo link. It doesn't show that it includes the bushings though. (https://www.amazon.com/Redcat-Racing...5%3A2470955011) EDIT: Now that i'm looking more. It seems like most of the aluminum knuckles don't come with bushings. Even the ones on Redcat's site. |
Re: Gen7 spindle bushings Hmm... maybe I had to transfer my original bushings to those when I installed mine. If that's the case, then the part number I linked above sure as hell should fit your current knuckles. |
Re: Gen7 spindle bushings I considered just buying the set of steering arms that come with 8 bushings so i could have some replacement parts. The issue there is, i have the high steering version currently. The high steering ones don't come with bushings. So, the stock ones may have issues with the steering link i have and the high steering version don't come with bushings. Best bet is to just order the bushings and have some spare for when i break the plastic and go to aluminum knuckles. Thanks for your help Jim. |
