Default Gen 8 aftermarket bodies?

Hey guys, just curious if anybody has experimented and found any bodies other than the stock Scout that will fit without modifying the fenders? Specifically interested in any of the available Jeep Cherokee bodies so I can fashion it after my 1:1..

Thanks in advance!

You can make the wheelbase 12.3 inches by moving either the front back one notch or the rear forward one notch. I can’t speak for not having to mod the fenders, but I do know the proline and axial Cherokee bodies are different widths so research and order the wider of the two

I could drop an Axial Cherokee on my Gen 8 later today and see how it fits. That one is the only version that I believe will be wide enough to fit over the inner fenders (even if you don't use the part that attaches to the body).

I'm eagerly awaiting the results of this test. I like the Scout body and all, but there might come a day when I want to put an Axial Cherokee on it and shorten the wheelbase.

I took my TRX4 bronco body and set it on there. Fits perfect. I set on my HPI 79 f150 body and that fit over the wheel wells but was a little short at 12" wb. I don't think it should be much of an issue. If needed you can trim the wheel wells a little bit. Replacements are cheap. It pretty much comes down to how much work you want to do to the body or chassis to make it work. If you want a bolt on body that really cuts down the options of available bodies. Any of the bodies designed for the trx4 should work great.

To me the Scout body seemed a lil top heavy in some circumstances.
Proline '66 Chevy C10. Fit right on I didn't even change the wheel base.
Rear shock tower is a lil off but I made a cover for it.

While I agree that the Scout body looks good, I just want to keep my options open. With the where and how I drive it's possible that the stock body will last years. It's more that I just want to change it up after some time.

I own a scout 2 1:1 and it dosent look pretty so the more beat my body gets the more ill like it i might patina it from the start cause its a known fact that scouts came prerusted from the factory

I might be a bit biast but the scouts are the coolest rigs ever made so i cant see why anyone would not want to run the scout body

Indeed they did. Rust was not an option, it was a standard feature! Besides the rust though they were bullet proof.

Sorry, forgot to post this yesterday.

Axial Cherokee fits the Gen 8 really good.

Yup, that does look good. Is this still the out-of-box wheelbase?

Yeah, the stock 324 mm setting.

I would guess by eyeballing it, moving the rear links in to the inner most hole on the skid plate would give it the perfect wheelbase.

The drawback of this body. Very thin on the back of the cab. Cracked and a waste of money. It's gone to the dump.

Carisma F-150. Fits the stock wheel base. Only issue is it's a touch narrow for the Gen 8 but still looks pretty good.

Check Asiatees.com and look for anything from 312mm to 336mm wheelbase. I bought the Rover hard body from Team Raffee and am waiting for it to arrive.

This is more the look I will be after, I think it looks great.
It would be awhile before I ponied up the $100 for the body kit, but she sure does look good

Where did you get the fender flares?

I 3d printed them. They are on thingiverse for the hpi F-150 body. I just scaled them a little bit too fit.
