| Gen8 transfer case - is it strong?
I have a custom build in need of a transfer case that is small, has close to a 2:1 ratio and is bulletproof. I'm running a lot of power through it as the starting point for a 10x10 drive train. The gen8 transfer case looks to be the right size and gear ratio but I don't know about the strength of the gears. Looking to get input from people who have experience with the rig. |

It's seems decently strong, pounded on it in my Wendigo with 2.2 wheels and never had an issue....and that's with the nylon gears. There are steel gears out there as well which should be plenty strong. I upgraded mine with one of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/29226748379...YAAOSwhY9cM6t0 True 2:1 ratio and and so far it's been holding up well. |

the gen8 transfer case is pretty strong with the mod 1 teath you just need to shim one gear on the outside of the case to keep the pin tight in the gear for some reason there is just enuff play to round out the pin pocket i havent herd anything about the metal gears needing shimming though probably should though but when i replaced my gears i dident.shim it and its.been.fine so far

Comes under a bunch of different brands (Integy, LESU, etc.) not really sure who makes it, but they are all the same. Gears are either 32p or mod1, I didn't test them out or anything. 12/24, and the case is 59mm wide. I put some better TRX bearings in mine and it's nice and smooth. A few comparison shots from my Wendigo thread: Have a few batteries though it and so far so good. Heck, for $22 it's not bad at all. I have this one somewhere too, 2.15 ratio... pretty decent for the price and it's 70mm wide: https://www.ebay.com/itm/16254687621...MAAOSwjvJZOebG |
