I cut 2" out of the center of my Ascender cage. The cage doesn't stick out pass the side of the cab now. Keeps the cage from getting snagged or hung up on obstacles.

When the time comes to replace this PW body, I may try my hand at narrowing the cage.

Any pics of your cage or tips on how you did it?

Still waiting on parts, but made a little progress today.

New Savox servo installed.

My Trailmaster 550 21T motor showed up from Holmes Hobbies.

And my Lipos showed up.

Hopefully more parts will arrive soon. I’m itching to drive!

Im thinking about swapping out my stock motor. Is the Trailmaster you got a pretty good option for the Gen 8? I don't like the start up for the Gen 8. Im looking for a slower, more controlled crawl. Will that Trailmaster do it. Noob question. Is the higher the turn the faster the motor of the other way around?

The lower the number the faster it is.

For example, a 27T will be faster than a 35T motor.

Mind that things like timing, number of slots, and can size also make a difference.

The Trailmaster features a 550 sized can (longer than a 540 can motor) and is an awesome budget minded motor. The 21T version I choose is a great balance of torque and wheel speed.

I dropped down several teeth on the pinion gear (stock GEN8 is a 17 tooth if I remember correctly. I went down to a 12 tooth pinion) and in combination with the 21T motor (stock is 17T) and the inherent torque of the 550 can, you will feel a noticeable difference.

I also run 3S, the extra voltage gives me the wheel speed lost to gearing lower and sometimes needed to bump over obstacles.

Hope that helps you out.

Modifications to the ascender cage is pretty easy. This one I narrowed it down to fit a Parma 34 Ford.

I put one on the trx4 also and my scout.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0162d63260.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...24c4e1e622.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0f660a583f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...01862aef36.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4192a4ec0c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...efcc013cab.jpg

The GEN8RL has been neglected since the Marlin showed up, so I took him out for some rock therapy.

Met up with one of our new Route 66 Crawler members and headed out to one of our local crawl spots.

Had a great time, first time crawling with a Ascender, nice little rig for sure.

Anyways, couple of pics from this morning.
